    hello

now what was i about to write...ah yes...about the great karna and whether we are distantly related to him..

if you have seen the movie meendum kokila... sridevi will sing a beautiful song chinnam chiru vayathil ....and forget midway.. and kamal will continue...kallathanam ennadi enakkor kaaviyam sollu enraal.... ...forgetting just at the right moment can be embarassing....the other day i was trying to teach a little sloka to a kid who wanted to know...i said i know it and will it teach you in a minute...bhoothanatha sathananda sarvabhootha dayabara raksha raksha....and off it went all blank...!try as much as i would i couldnt retrieve from memory...!

sometimes we meet people. we may have been with them for years. like you went hiking with your best classmate and cant remember her name when you last met her in the market....and she remembers you...!electricity bills, books pens, specks, or even the sugar bowl are all common things..

i had a distant cousin who forgot to button her blouse(back button) and her husband used to tease her always (luckily he noticed before she left for work with a bank...!)embarassing situations galore...!

when you talk about karna his generosity is something everyone admires... and many of us would like to think we are generous too however little we give away. but for the great actor sivaji karna will be the usual warrior of a great epic. atleast i think so as in a very old movie about karnan too he is not depicted so high and is just another character with generosity as his best. never mind his other characters.. he was famous for having put up with the biting bee when rishi parasuram( i hope im not karna here...!) was taking a nap on his lap. which led to his getting the `saapam' or curse that he will forget the most valuable part of learning just when the situation demands and when it is very important that he use it...

now karna was not able to remember the power to use brahmasthram. (if i remember right(?) brahmasthram is gayathri manthram in reverse repeated several thousand times a day for forty five days or so. it is supposed to be done very religiously and knowing karna guess he must have really taken great efforts to get it right...but for the curse...!the great epic would have taken a different turn...

what do you forget most....? most people break the locks several times a month for having forgotten the keys..!there are others who add salt twice. and many go shopping without a purse...

the only silver lining will perhaps be that you can say...`` i am like the great karna too...and perhaps everyone will think you are very very generous...!

    Sathya,

Good job. I feel now i am related to Karnan (very distant). Will you believe me if i tell you that i forgot my name.

I landed in Dubai and after 1 or 2 days my BIL and his wife went for a Live Comedy show,... what's his name, the great comedian in Hindi Movie,???? Oh, i remember - Johny Lever program. After that they said they have to visit one of their friend who is celebrating in some hotel and infants and kids were not allowed, so i said i am not coming bcos of my 3 yr old daughter and my hubby said he has headache andhe is not coming. So they both went inside, then theycome out soon saying that their friends wants to meet us. So we reluctantly went, the securty stopped us saying kids not allowed. So i told them i will wait here outside and one friend came out and introduced herself and she asked my name and i was just blinking, i forgot my name, i dont know how it happened, iam asking my bil's wife what's my name. Oh no, great embarassment.:bang:bang I was always thinking why did i behave like that. Now I am happy that i am distant relative of Karna so it happens. I dont know how can i forget my name. That was the first and last time. Sometime i fight with my hubby and it will turn and bend and the topic changes but i will forget for what i started arguing in the first place. I always keep things safely and i wont remember where is that safe place and always get shouting for this habit from my hubby.

So thanks satya for making me know that i may be distantly related to Karnan, the great.

    Dear Sathya,

It is nice to see that you are talking about Karna... When I read the title.... I was surprised... But you are recalling Karnan for our forgetfulness... Karna is a great Character in Mahabharatha... He is a self made man... We all talk of Matha/Pitha/Guru/Deivam... all various things... He was let down by his own mother... Guru let him down by his sapam... GOD also let him down... When his life was held back by his Dharma... Even though he had 5 great brothers... They didnt help him... Thambi udayan padaikku anjan... here thambiye annanai kondran...

We keep forgetting things because of our poor concentration / memory and not fully focussed.... and definitely not because of Guru's Sapam...

For this you cannot compare us with Karnan....

Sorry if I have come on strongly.... Because Karnan is one character in Mahabharatha... which I like most....

    Hi Sathya,
Iam really related to Karna because I have twice or thrice sent my cheques without signing them. Indha Kai kodupadhu andha kaiku theryakudadhu. This became like that. It was very embarassing , at times I foget to take change from the coujtre after having paid for what I bought. That I think is enough to be a distant relative of Karnan, rignt????????????

    hi satya,

But for the curse, things would have really been different for karna...

Ok i think i am also one...

I started writing...the flow was good...then went blank...trying to grasp...
reason..maybe thinking/doing too many things at the same time....

The most worst incident.... i had to go into ppt office for renewal??. had started of from home took the train to nungambakkam. after getting down at the station as usual wanted to double check..so looked into my bag for passport..did not find it...so took the return back to home...went and check the safe and every other place..did not find it...so called veda..he coolly told me to check again...well you guessed it..it was in my bag.:bang:bang i forgot that i had put it in a envelope to keep it clean... (now who is the culprit, the envelope/me??)

I also forget all the passwords for my account and other internet banking and others:-( and nowadays i write a log...most banks have got extra service charges (courtesy my forgetfullness)... I wonder always why do i forget all these things when i dont forget if somebody had hurt me or the bad memories... (i think god was partial with his erase button??)

Now the standing joke in the house..is if i keep something very very safe...i will forget....:bang:bang:bang

BTW it is nice that i have company in this...:tongue (veda are you reading this??)

    Dear Mr. Vysan,

Please take it lightly. I know many like Karnan. Take it easy. Please forgive her and us for our distant relation to Karna. May be i dont know much like the way you know and have written. But here no one is comparing the great Karnan, we are just trying to be happy that we are distant relative to him for his forgetfullness that was a sapam. May be we are just comparing ourselves to his forgetfullnes, is it all wrong? Everything that we talk and do, we always site Mahabharatha and Ramayana, so there is nothing wrong in the way she wrote whatever she knows.

    Hi veda,

Nobody is talking bad about karna...we are all saying that bt for the curse...he was great...and we are not comparing ourselves to him....
we only want to say..that we forget things when it is most necessary... as it was in the case of karna..he forgot the mantra when it could have saved his life....

we are taking an example of a situation and not a person...so there is nothing to come strong on.....:tongue
