There is one more info.It seems akshya means never diminishing.It seems Draupadi saved Lord Krishna ,with a piece of cloth when he lost hisclothes while bathing in the river.The same Draupadi was saved by Lord Krishna with endless metres of cloth when she called out for help.This is supposed to have happened on this day.So let us do whatever we can do for the welfare of our community.

n Sanskrit akshaya means never diminishing. Tritiya means third. in Hindu lunar calender akshya tritiya is observed on the 3rd day of shukla paksha ( waxing phase of moon)in sanskrit month of vaishakha or tamil chithri month. if akshya tritiya falls on a Wednesday or Friday when moon is in Rohini then it becomes especially sacred. on this day- AKSHYA TRITIYA 1) Badhrinath,Kedarnath & Char Dham temples open for pilgrims 2) ganga is said to have descended upon the earth on this day 3) sudama (kuchela) visiting Krishna in Dwaraka with a handful of beaten rice.
