Air fares to India from US in dec/jan

    I am trying to check the air fares to INdia from JFK in dec/jan, everything is above $1500 even up to $1800, is it so high in this period? we usually travel during this time and never seen these prices. how are you getting the deals if you also travelling in that period.

    A few things that I noticed while searching for fares:

    1. Rates are higher if you travel on weekends.
    2. Charges increase by $50-100 if you travel anytime in the month of December.
    3. Rates are significantly higher if we travel to a city other than New Delhi or Mumbai.
    4. We also miss out on very good deals since we don't start from JFK or EWR. Not sure about your case though. Are you planning to drive to JFK then start from there?

    Talk to a few travel agents and find out what deals they have.
