dont know if its the right place to post this thread...but i really need one here..after reading many of the posts i went to look in the web dictionary many times to know the medical terms that are used..:hiya.since am a novice:drowning i thought it wud be very helpful for women like me if we cud use this thread as a glossary for unknown medical terms. so, pls ladies post the medical acronyms that u know along with the full form and if possible a short description about it. and i guess there is no problem if the abbreviations repeat...our chances get higher finding the word that we are looking

here is what i found so far

    PCOS- Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome
LMP- First day of last period
    Dx- diagnosis

Lovely thread dear. I have wondered and searched on the net for many of the Abbreviations. This should be very useful for all ladies.

CD - means - Cycle day. CD1 = cycle day one - starting day of period.
cd2, cd3 goes on as cycle day 2 /3 and so on.

The ones used normally in this forum:

    OD - Ovulation day
DPO - days post ovulation - 3 dpo= three days post ovulation and so on.
    OPK - Ovulation Predictor Kit
    OB/GYN - Obstetrician/Gynecologist
    BBT - Basal Body Temperature
    PG - Pregnant
US, u/s - Ultrasound or ultrasonography
    IMO - In My Opinion
    MC - miscarriage
    BCP - Birth Control Pills
BFP - Big Fat Positive (test result)
BFN - Big Fat Negative (test result)
    HCG - Human Chorionic Gonadotropin
    HPT - Home Pregnancy Test
    HRT - Hormone Replacement Therapy
    ICSI - Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection
    IF - Infertility
    UTI - Urinary Tract Infection
    LP - Luteal phase
    LAP - Laparoscopy

    Hope this helps

    AMH = Anti-Mullerian-Hormone

Is a indication of how many eggs you still have in reserve. Each women is born with a set number, which gets started to use up over time (with each period). A low AMH means that your overian reserve is nearing the end, and that you going to go into menopause soon or sooner than others your age with a higher AMH.
