    Hi friends !
I was watching TV and saw a news about a new born baby girl who died due to apathy shown by the staff of civil hospital in jalandhar!
And the reason , well her poor parents could not arrange 200 rs to keep the baby in the incubator!
She was born on 22nd July and was suffering from jaundice. Due to this, it was necessary for her to be kept in the photo therapy unit.she was in the unit on 23rd and 24th July. However, after these two days, the nursing staff on duty asked the child’s mother to deposit 200, as a charge for keeping the patient in the incubator. since the father did not have money they removed the child and she died.
The inquiry panel has held that removing baby from the phototherapy unit can't be the reason of its death but it remained silent on the exact cause that snuffed out a newborn's life.
what ever be the reason but can anyone bring back the child???
I am surprised by the authorities , the chief minister said that such things happen !!! I mean how can he say that??
because of all the bashing by media and even common people finally the govt woke up and announced that neonatal care services would be made available free of cost in government hospitals in the state.
But what really hurts me is that the govt is doing so much publicity for saving a girl child , the authorities are spending so much money on campaigning , have these projects like nanhi cha but what is the reality ??? we dont even have proper facilities in hospital to deal with such cases.
Then there was a second news about a inquiry in PGI where finally doctors have found that the cause of death OF YOUNG GIRL ANUPAMA was delay in surgery and he blamed over crowding of hospital as cause of death. now we have three main hospitals in Chandigarh , sec 16 , sec 32 govt hospitals and PGI . Due to the delay in surgery, Anupama developed gas gangrene and the infection spread to the entire body. When the surgery eventually took place, her leg had to be amputated. But even that was too late. The infection had led to sepsis, in the end becoming the main cause of her death.
will the govt wake up now and try to improve the medical facilities in the state ????

    Hi Cutemonster,

So many such incidents happened last week that made us feel bad. Not only the medical facilities to be improved, special care should be given when it particularly comes to kids. Last week's news in Chennai where 6 year old Shruthi falls to death through the hole on the floor of a moving school bus. And now the court demands the government to frame norms for School buses. Who is to be blamed for this? The money minded educational institutions or the government that sanctions it?

It is horrifying to hear of people removing a baby out of the photo therapy unit only because the parents did not have money to pay. How callous can "human beings" get? Babies generally bring out the best in people and even in animals. Animals adopt babies of other species. And here an institution which is supposed to save lives actually allows a child to die? What kind of people are these? Is there no value for life in this country? There can be no excuse for such behaviour. The administration of that hospital should be severely punished.
