Long years back, poet Bharathidasan wrote a song and had stipulated that it should be sung in Desh Ragam. It was the great M M Dandapani Desigar who set it up in that Ragha.
I am presenting two versions of the song.
First one is from the movie Oor Iravu starring Nageswara Rao and Lalitha released in 1951.
Second one is sung by Sanjay Subramanian in a stage concert. Enjoy!

Kudos sir for posting your observation in the feel to Desh listening . I tend to agree.
In the feel that is generated while listening, between ore iravu cine type DESH vastly differs from the one rendered by Sanjay. But then both enjoyable but sanjay’s score over erudition.
I last listen to Sanjay rendering the Desh - at music academy when he was CONFERRED at the hands of Smti Mallika Srinivasan The title of SANGITHA KALANIDHI
conferred of ‘The Indira Sivasailam Endowment Medal 2011'.

Carnatic vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan, known to add a contemporary touch to the traditional, and reach out to rasikas through blogs, podcasts, and even an iPhone app,.
Desh is adopted for AIR Radio vandhe matharam song at daily beginning of broadcast sessions radio since 1950s. Even Rehman used this ragam in his
A volume can be written about the effect of Desh listening to a particular hours for that feel of special effect.

The best immersive feel - the rag Desh generates perhaps in listening in bed to it during the later part of peaceful night.
    God Bless
