46.அறத்தாற்றின் இல்வாழ்க்கை ஆற்றின் புறத்தாற்றில்
போஒய்ப் பெருவதெவன்.

ஒருவன் அறநெறியில் இல்வாழ்க்கை நடத்துவானேயானால், அத்தகையவன் வேறு நெறியில் சென்று பெறும் பயன் தான் என்ன?
If a man masters the duties of married life,
what further merits could monkhood offer him?

47. இயல்பினான் இல்வாழ்க்கை வாழ்பவன் என்பான்
முயல்வாருள் எல்லாம் தலை.
Iyalbhinan ilvazhkkai vazhbhavan enbhan
muyalvaarul ellam thalai.

அறநெறியில் இல்வாழ்க்கை வாழ்பவன், மற்ற நெறிவழி செல்பவரைக் காட்டிலும் மேலானவன் ஆவான்.
Among those who strive for liberation, the foremost are they
who live the blessed state of family life as it should be lived.

48. ஆற்றின் ஒழுக்கி அறனிழுக்கா இல்வாழ்க்கை
நோற்பாரின் நோன்மை உடைத்து.
Arrin ozhukki aRanizhukka ilvazhkkai
noRporin nonmai udaithu.

தானும் நல்வழியில் நடந்தும், பிறரையும் நல்வழி நடத்தும் இல்வாழ்வான் நடத்தும் வாழ்க்கை, தவம் செய்வாரை விட சிறந்த வாழ்க்கை வாழ்பவனாவான்.
The householder dedicated to duty and who aids others in the seeking the right path, lives a life of glory than the ascetics.

49. அறன் எனப்பட்டதே இல்வாழ்க்கை அஃதும்
பிறன்பழிப்ப தில்லாயின் நன்று.
Aran enappattathe ilvazhkkai akthum
piranpazhippa thillayin nanRu.

அறன் என்பதே இல்வாழ்க்கை ஆகும். பிறர் பழிச் சொல் இல்லாமல் விளங்கினால் அது மேலும் நன்மையாகும்.
Domestic life is rightly called virtue. The monastic path,
rightly lived beyond blame, is likewise good.

50. வையத்தின் வாழ்வாங்கு வாழ்பவன் வான் உறையும்
தெய்வத்துள் வைக்கப்படும்.
vaiyathin vazhvangu vazhbhavan van uRayum
Deivathul vaikkapadum.

உலகில் அறநெறியில் வாழ்பவன், வானில் உறையும் தெய்வத்திற்கு சமமாக வைத்துப் போற்றப்படுவான்.
He who rightly pursues the householder's life here on Earth
will be rightfully placed among the Gods there in Heaven.
