AnbuLLaPrethi, there ARE 2 versions - with & without soda. Since I learnt this way from Amma, I faithfully follow it! You can once try without soda also & see if there is any difference.

    Friends,
Next I am planning to post sweets, using a candy or sugar thermometer. Sweet making becomes very simple & fool proof.
    Infact
    Bournvita Cake

which is little tricky, comes out perfect with CT. All you need is a heavy straight-sided saucepan & not a kadai.
I do hope you will try them, at your convenience.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    hi,

made kanchipuram idly with mint, coriander, tomato jain chutney for diwali potluck dinner and it turned out great. It was well appreciated and adding eno salt in right proportion also makes a difference .

Does excess qty of eno salt added will give a dry texture...

    thanks

    Dear Chitra mami,
Hope you had a great Deepavali !!

I prepared Ribbon Pakoda and Muthusaram. The recipe that I followed was thus: preparing the flour by grinding it from the flour mill..The taste and crispness was very good. Lots & Lots of thanks to you.

But one problem: Ellame sivanthu pochu... enna karama irukkalam? Please clarify when time permits.

    Thanks Again & Regards
    ksv

    Dear Prethi,

oh wow... really nice looking mysorepak and laddus. the latter esp you've rolled to such perfection.

    Chithramma,

am i not glad i got a candy thermometer from the US! i hope to try out soon...

sorry y'day forgot FB for kaima idlies (tiffin time snack). i made idli maavu for diwali and now weather changing it didn't ferment that well. the idlis were a bit hard so made kaima idli. instead of chilli sauce i added a little bit channa masala powder. super kara saramana taste.

    Dear C,

Belated Diwali wishes, hope you had a great diwali. Though I didnt post FB, was reading through your forum. Hats off to your efforts on SBS. I will definitely try them. Happy to see the photos of sweets & savouries everyone made, it is awesome.

I made Super thenkuzhal on friday. It was white and super crispy. Took it to my sis place, they liked it too. It was a bit oily, is it because of the rice flour I used?

Besides this I tried Veg. kothu parotta(store bought ones), this one was a quick fix and tasty too.

    Diwali wishes to everyone here.

    Love,
    Priya

Dear ksv, your query is not clear to me, sorry! what did you grind in the mill? All flours? Then it is likely to have got over-heated & hence the colour.
    Love,
    Chithra.
