Severe cold and cough in pregnancy

does cough effect the baby inside

Hi friends,

Iam in my 6th month and i have pretty bad cough..i went to doctor and he said its acid reflux and gave cough medicine for night.

but now iam coughing very badly as i try to lay down.

my question does coughing effect baby inside.

are there any remedies that i can take at home..please suggest if so.

Even I had cold and cough when I was in my 2nd trimester. My doc. said I could take "Robitussin" but I did not want to take any medicine and I tried all home remedies. I drank luke warm water whenever I could.
I also used to eat "Halls" (Throat lozenges) all the time.
Even I could not sleep flat on the bed for those 3 weeks. So I slept in the recliner.
My doc. said as long as the phlegm is not green and if there is no infection then the baby is fine. My doc. said if the phlegm turns green then she said she will put me on medicine. But luckily that never happened to me..
Whenever I coughed I used to hold my belly and cough.
My doc. said the baby is well protected inside so there is nothing to worry.

As this is my first pregnancy iam bit worried. And my bad luck, no one is coming here to take care of me at the time of delivery and iam scared thinking how i will manage alone. Hubby is busy always in office

Dont worry, we are here to support you.
For your query, no worries for the baby due to dry cough. It is due to over heat and harmonal changes during pregnancy. Have luke warm water as much as possible.
If you feel some pain in lower abdomen, consult gynic.

 

Need help... Severe Cough ..URGENT

Hi All,

My friend Shilpa is 2.5 months pregnant now ...she is having severe cough... No medicines are working...doctor has told her not to take anti-biotics... she tried Aryurvedic also..but nothing is working...

Just wanted to know is this a pregnancy symptom? She says... she can't even sleep....sometimes due to over coughing... she vomits.

Plz advise my freind.. what she can do to get rid of her cough....plz it's urgent

I had similar problem in first trimester, i didn't take OTC meds. just honey, pepper, helped sooth the throat.
i also tried panakalkandu ( it is like sugar but natural form, dont know the english name) with milk which helps in cough. after a while slowly it went off. could be some allergy too.
Hope she gets better.

Even I had dry cough(with or without vomiting) in my early weeks of pregnancy. Ask her to sip warm water. Before going to bed, ask her to take warm milk with turmeric. It will be soothing to her throat and good for health too !

No medications required for this...

Tell her to avoid the food which r triggering cough after she is eating, in my idea lot of spice, tomato, some fruits and caffeine drinks trigger the most.

tell her not to sleep immediately after eating, by drinking warm water also it will reduce.

imp tip:

Take 1/4tsp ginger powder, 1/4 tsp pepper powder mix them with 1 tsp honey and have it in the morning before eating anything.
