    Ami,

All dark green leafy vegetables are a good source of calcium. But these usually have phytates or oxalates that bind the Calcium and make some of it unavailable for the body to absorb. The best way to increase Calcium absorption is to include Vit c rich foods .

Also Nuts like Almonds, sesame seeds, soya beans are all good sources. so also our own pulses( Like T dal, C dal etc..not that good but reasonable).

Usually Calcium got from Dairy sources are better absorbed by the body than the veg sources. Hope this helps.

    Dear Vandhana,

I too was hoping that you would answer Ami's query. I guess bananas are also rich in calcium, am I right?

    Dear Kamla,

Bananas are a good source of the other " ium" , potassium. Not calcium. Although they do have a little bit, it is not considered a good source for calcium.

    Dear Pavithra,
I have given the recips for capsicum sabji. The same can be used, adding tofu cubes at the end.
Since I do not use soya, I am not giving those recipes.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,
Could you please post your recipe for Bombay Chutney [ not sure of name but is made with besan & tomatoes ] & the Ulli Vada which you get in Malayalee tea shops ? I've tried some recipes of both but always the proportion of water : besan, is not given properly so consistency & taste is not coming correctly. Thanks .

    With love,
    Dew.
