Focus On The Surface A teacher was telling a story to pupils in the class . A ship caught in storm at sea. A couple after having made their way to top deck found the lifeboat, but in it they saw that there was space just for one more person. At this juncture, the husband elbowed the spouse behind him and hopped on to the lifeboat. The lady at once shouted at the top of her lungs from the top of the sinking ship one sentence to her husband. The teacher now stopped here and asked the class, “ now guess what the wife said loudly to her husband?" The class excitedly answered, "I hate you”, “I was blind!" “Go to Jerico” The teacher noticed a girl at front bench was silent throughout. She got her to answer and girl stood up and responded, "Mam - I think she would have said - honey please take care of our child!" The teacher was surprised, asking "Have you heard this story before?" The girl shook her head from side to side, "No, but that was what my mum suffering from cancer told my dad before she died". The teacher turned sad & said, "The answer is right". The ship sunk, the man went home and brought up the daughter single-handedly. Many years later after the death of the man, daughter found his diary while rummaging his personal effects. It turns out that when parents went onto the ship, the mother was already diagnosed with a terminal illness. At the critical moment, the father rushed to the only chance of survival. He wrote in his diary, "How I wished to have sunk to the bottom of the ocean with you, but for the sake of our daughter, I can only let you lie forever alone in that ship at the bottom of sea". The story when finished, the entire class was silent. The teacher knows that her class understood the moral of the story, that of the good and the evil in the world, there are many complications behind them which are hard to understand. Which is why we should never only focus on the surface and judge others without understanding them first.
Many in modern hectic life, just browse over things and rest content being a flippant. Very few study and enliven others with what they had digested well from such illustrative anecdotes. @vidhyalakshmid & @happyperson are few such persons - a rare category that one seldom come across. Thanks for your liking this story. Many soft looking and smiling on surface could be an etna - a violent active volcano inside. Regards. God Bless.
