Say a person participating in a public forum has set his own principle of not sending or answering a direct message. This principle might be a defensive technique to avoid any misunderstanding or misrepresentations. If some people continue to send direct messages, this person has the dilemma. If he answers any direct message, he breaks his principle. If he refuses to reply, some people might continue to send. Which is preferred method to avoid future receipts? A. Keep ignoring any messages B. State (once again) in public to not send C. Break your principle once and reply to that sender to not send. Issue with this approach is, you might have to repeat this for many senders, so you might have to keep breaking your principle D. Have a signature that you do not like to send or receive direct messages from anyone except admin for policy changes or other notices
None of the above. When there is such a simple option to disable DM in your profile option - and if you do that, easy to achieve the stated goal. (except for Admin messgs). Easily available answer in FAQ section, but this is a day for generation of threads for anything and everything.
^^^ I had searched but didn’t locate the information on how to disable DM in FAQ. It would have helped if you had said it is under privacy settings and not in preferences. Anyway I am now free from your future DMs. Hooray! Thread served its purpose.
