    I thought I will exit quietly. Lol
    Well, I used to say about a friend's dog who used to always come to me when I visit their house. I used to think it was 'poorva Jenma bandham' because I was not into pets in general. Moreover it would avoid the owner and others at that time.

    In your circumstance, I just remembered that dog. It had liked you for whatsoever reason but the moment you have food given to it, the bond has strengthened and it will never forget you hereafter.

    Thanks for writing up this snippet.

    I have a lab/collie mix. We adopted him exactly a year ago and has brought so much joy to us. He still acts a lot like a pup but I can see the maturity settling in. Another 6 months and I think I will be ready to let him anywhere in the house :)

    Nice try! :p

    'Poorva Jenma bandham' is a good way of looking at it. You are a truly good soul, @vaidehi71. I'm not surprised the dog saw that and was drawn to you. :)

    Oh no! I'm doomed! :yikes:

    Thanks for responding. :)

    My daughter wants a puppy so bad. Lucky me and my husband both love dogs but it's such a responsibility, especially to train them right!. Do you dog owners find that having a dog enhances your kids sense of responsibility as they help take care of them? Also we do have a fairly close friend who is deathly afraid of any dog and would stop coming over if we got one; do you think a well trained lab or golden retriever with gradual exposure can help a person overcome their fear? It's the wife who's afraid; the husband and the kids (ages 12 and 9) are not.

    @SilverNGold, precious name! :thumbsup:

    How old is your daughter? :)

    If you get her a dog, be prepared to assume full responsibility for it. You may end up being the one who will feed, bathe, train, clean up after and walk the dog. So make sure you have the time and energy to do this before you bring a pup home.

    If you're worried about training, send the dog to obedience school.

    You can always lock the dog in a spare room when dog-fearing guests visit.
