    Dear jskls,
Your response made me more mature.
It is definitely emotional for all the parents. As it is very hot in Chennai I got up early at 4 A.M.The vadam season is really interesting.Children who sleep till 7 or 7.30 follow the mouth watering smell of tasty, hot vadam maavu and follow me to open terrace .Even before cleaning their teeth, sometimes balls of vadam maavu would occupy their mouths.
Yesterday There was no one to share the flour except my husband.
So I thought of sharing my feelings with my friends in IL.

After writing the snippet and posting it, I really felt that as an elderly septuagenarian, having wide experiences in several spheres of life, I was not expected to become too sentimental about things. When I recollect what I wrote my thoughts go a different angle.
I think that the following part should have occupied the later half of my snippet.

When we left home in our early years for College Education we craved to return Home,
not necessarily for long Holidays but many times even for week ends.
Then, we were still dependent on Parents for our income and of course the Home delicacies
    tasted still the best.
The same, when we traveled to the far of City for jobs, but was found diminished, what with
own income and different company and new avenues to spend time and money.
Even parents' fervent appeal to come home for Festivals and family functions did not
    appeal to the mind.
We spent our time in the far of towns and cities and we have become totally independent
    and parents insistence irritated us.
Of course the lady/man of love arrived to share your life.
We have become an independent unit, a family of our own.
Then Children arrived and your sense of responsibility and sharing pleasures are confined
    to our own family.
The Parents were no more a part of our family.
They have become guests at our own Home, no more members or part of the Family.
Now as our parents grew old we have become old.
Our children have their own family of spouse and children.
It is part of the cycle and you are no more welcome as part of their families.
At least in our generation there was a semblance of bonding.
It is often complained that the present day generation seems to be more materialistic and parents have become a burden. But the children's version is totally different.
We have refused to learn from Nature.
The lesser beings care for their young ones until they become independent.
They never allow their offspring to remain with them.
Life is full if you open your mind wide at every stage and age.
Such things are but natural and we have to accept it with broad smile on face
    and a contentment at heart.
We did not fume and fretted when we were sent home on retirement.
Tomorrow we would board a flight, with a single ticket never to return.

Why not do it with pleasure instead of the desire to re- live in the past carry a heavy

heart and remain a burden to ourselves?

    Dear Ma'am,
    Best regards.
That was a very beautiful post, all the scenes were running one by one, taking me to '80s.
After reading and rereading the words of Khalil Gibran being shared by friends, slowly have made up my mind.
My son is 12, and this spring break, I consciously madeup my mind to create beautiful memories and have been successful..
Take care dear Ma'am, your post gave me a perspective to prepare myself.
    Thank you.

    Dear Vaidehi,
Thank you for your response amongat hard chores. It is reality.Though we know pretty well that the situation is unavoidable, yet as mothers we can't help feeling. It is sometimes better to express and share than to pretend to be very calm and matured.
