An exotic food remains exotic only as long as you do not prepare it at home !

I agree 'I know how to make it' takes away the wow factor.

its the other way round here...I am not a foodie nor a cooking savy but my DH is.I cook simple meals and he does the "exotic " ones...I am more worried about the havoc in the kitchen than the dish...but boy it feels sweet that he is exited to cook something special for his family....I love it!

There are even ëxotic eperiments....if it flops, i would still praise him but he himself declares it a flop...your wife knows how it came out..she is just wanting appreciation..you can give it, its free.

my side of story is wise versa. my dh wants me try to cook our favorite exotic menus at home while i prefer to eat it at our favorite restaurants. he prefers my cook all the time rather than eating it outside... :queen

hehe... there is a reason why it is called 'mysore masala dosa' or 'davanagere benne dosa' right?

I agree your post in your point of view
I disagree your post in your wife's point of view.
In the given situation, both are correct.
If your wife with her trial and error methods become one day a perfect chef then your prob solved. You can ask her to try these dishes when she is in her mom's place.
Mean while once see the restaurant dishes in net. They keep on adding oil, masala, color etc etc for taste. For these chefs only taste matters and health next. But for a house wife health matters first. My advice , even if the taste a bit low for beginners dish try to appreciate and move them to perfection.

well,I do like they way you appreciated her effort to make Manchurian & Biryani for you .you clearly want good environment ,good conservation along with good food.........and surely you wife will understand that it is threesome package with her relaxed, in some different environment ,enjoying some cuisine which is not regularly cooked at home.
do what my hubby does.tell her its cooking free day & she is off cooking that day.....you just need her to be good company & then both of you enjoy together.

my exotic cuisine is Mexcian & in dessert I love Malva pudding & Crème Brulee...........all of which can be made at home & I do make them but still love to eat these out............no,take away doesn't have same magic even if food is same as you would have had in restaurant.
