    For the time being I really need a break from social pressure and expenditure.....How much can a person take ?...We are a single income family and expenses are so high....At times I feel the entire life goes in fulfilling expectations, be it inlaws, parents, siblings, children , friends..........OMG.......If friends still invite , I have no other option other than continue with freebies.....

    And coming to your issue, just throw a party for your friends now(a small one at home on a weekday - preferably a lunch).. and then slowly get out of that group..!!

    Dear OP,

    First of all, if you don't want to spend money on parties for friends, please do STOP GOING for THEIR parties. Don't you have self respect??

    Or else

    throw a small party within your means for them. Your stinkingly rich friends won't kill you if you throw a small party that you can afford. if they don't wanna be associated with you because of your financial status, they'll stop calling you and the genuine one's will continue to invite...either way you can hold your head high after that..Can't you spend a little to as a return gift for all the fun you had??

    I have planned to split into two small parties or else I have to get a hall booked if I have to invite all of them together...I am throwing two small parties at my house and then will invite them for SIL's wedding....Thanks ladies for your advice
