You can go till Srinagar by plane or else if you like traveling in mountains you can plan to go till Jammu tawi and from there go by road to Srinagar. You get lot of taxis and buses for the same , on the way you can enjoy the beauty of jawahar tunnel but it is a very long drive of around 6-7 hours. Once you reach Srinagar you can stay in jktdc hotels or book a hotel through a travel agent. There are lot of places to see in Srinagar, like, dal lake shankaracharya temple, hazrat bal mosque, Nehru garden, char China, pari mahal, chashmeshahi, nishat and shalimar gardens. You can cover them in almost one and half day. Do plan one night stay in houseboat on dal lake, its a unique experience. Places nearby Srinagar worth seeing 1. Gulmarg: very beautiful and my favorite place take a gondola ride. 2. Pahalgam: another nice place 3. Sonamarg: the beauty is seen more in winter months when it is full of snow. 4. Varynag: it is also a beautiful place but less frequented by tourists. 5. You can plan to see dachigham sanctuary , wular lake, mansarovar lake if you have time. Enjoy your trip:thumbsup
Hi Aaditi, the best places to see in Kashmir are srinagar(dal lake shalimar bagh etc), Gulmarg(skiing and great lodges), Pahalgham and Baramulla(my village ) take care enjoy your trip maddy17
