Life of Pi by Yann Martel.........
actually quite readable despite being a booker prize winner and more absorbing than the movie.

The author begins by saying that he will narrate a story to make one believe in God.
But he finishes by suggesting that god and religion are fables created by man to help him deal with the harsher realities of life.
While reading the bit where the hyena rips out the intestines from the zebra, I couldn't help recalling the stories one read about the delhi victim .:| Life imitating art?
