    Dear Friends,

I am obese and on TTC, while i know its important to lose weight as this will help to concieve and chances of getting pregnent for obese person is less compared to a normal weight person. from the time i am born or atleast i got my conciousness i am always suffering with emotional and physical problems because of being overweight..

what is my fault in it.. i am born plump and its not that i eat more junk.. i dont say i eat only healthy food.. but i dont overeat anything.. i can say i almost eat the same amount of food compared to my friends who are thin..

Please share with me how was ur TTC journey.. and if there any sucessfull grils who achived pregnency please share your valueable story.. it would help me a lot..

Well a lot of us who are TTC are overweight. I am obese too. Weight does interfere in lot of things including conception

losing weight is not just eating less food, but is also about working out.

I know atleast 2 ladies( 1 overweight/ plump, 1 obese) in my earlier office who got preg naturally. having said that, weight also puts women in category of high risk pregnancies

I am obese too. I had PCOD which affected conception. I finally conceived after 3 yrs of marriage (with help of Clomid) and now have a beautiful baby girl.

Yes its true that being obese presents lot of problems, particularly with fertility. But it doesnt mean that if one is obese then there are no chances of getting pregnant. So dont lose hope and stress out over something that you cannot change overnight. Focus on eating right and trying to work out - and keep the TTC process going. There's enough stress in TTC already without adding obesity related worries to the mix.

Good luck and baby dust to you.

    Dear CHandrika,

you dont know how much hope you had added to my life and my TTC journey.. i was shattered when i got my periods last month.. whatever website i browse i only see Obesity as the main reson for infertility.. i understand and conciously think of losing weight.. but i had a bedridden MIL and stressful job and both i am not in a position to giveup... while i dont want to give it as an execuse to maintain my health , i will surly try to be more deciplned in my diet and excercise..

As you rightly said since this cannot be changed overnight i was losing hope day by day.. your words helped me a lot.. valuable..

yes i will continue the TTC with this hope..

by the way would you mind giving some info on Clomid..? i am right now taking only folic acid tablets..

ilovelife, i am happy that you feel encouraged by my words.

Is obesity the only concern for you? Have you and your DH gone to a fertility specialist to see if there are any issues with either one of you?. For women (esp. with weight issues), the common complaint is PCOD and Thyroid. For men, its do with with sperm count / motility. Once you both get yourselves checked, you can plan for further course of action.

Clomid is given when a woman is not able to ovulate on her own. This was my case. I used to get periods at random times, 45 days, 60 days..never able to predict when the next period would be. So TTC would be very difficult without knowing when ovulation is taking place, or if it is taking place at all.

Clomid basically stimulates the Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) to produce more ovarian follicles. The tablet is taken in varying dosage from 50 mg - 200 mg (decided by your doctor), between Day2 - Day6 of your cycle. You will need to follow up with follicular studies to track the growth and release of the egg, based on which you have IC.

Hope this answers your question about what Clomid is. Whether its the right treatment for you, can be answered only by a fertility specialist. Please get yourself checked up and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

    Hi Chandrika,,

thanks for replying.. let me give you some more details about myself.. my age is 28 , i weight 85 kgs and 5ft( severely obese :( ).. and yes i have been to a gynocologish and have got the necessary tests done...though i am obese i dont face serious irregular periods or PCO.. i mean i was dionosed with PCO a year ago that was only once and after that i never had irregular periods.. so from my experience i can say atlteast 75 to 80% of times my periods are regular..

the doctor also did some hormones tests and she said one of the harmones have slight varience in one of the harmones which is ok.. and rest she told me to for Folic acid tablets.

Doc had also told my husband to get the sperm test done.. but he is not finding time... he is going to do it in some days..

i am soo confused.. do you also have some info on how the Falopine tube related tests are done? because for me only Ultra sound scanning and Blood test was done..

ilovelife, you said you were diagnosed with PCOD a year back. So what happened.. its no longer present? You need to check that with your doctor, even if your periods are regular 80% of the time. I am more or less the same weight as you, and 3 inches taller than you :)

I think its important your DH gets his test done as early as possible. It will give a clear direction how to proceed further.

The fallopian tube test (HSG) is normally done after trying for few rounds with clomid / siphene, with follicular study and still failing to conceive. In my case i had it done on my 5th cycle of clomid and thats the cycle i conceived. The actual procedure as such is maybe a minute (injecting the dye) but the preparation etc. takes around 30 - 40 mins. Pain ranges from uncomfortable to severe cramping, depending on your tolerance level and also the skill level of the person doing the procedure. I had pain during the few seconds the dye was actually injected, but once it was over the pain went away and did not have any cramping after that.

I think before you start to worry about HSG etc., first get things in order. 1) Get your DH's tests done and complete. 2) If thats fine, check with your doctor if you can come in for follicular study each month so you'd know when you ovulate and you can try accordingly.

Do remember, none of this is going to happen overnight so you need to have patience. We'll be here to support you, good luck.

    Hi,

I was obese earlier..67 kg for 5 ft...and had 2 missed abortions due to PCOD and an abnomal uterus(which was found during my c-sec recently)...I came down to 58 kg and conceived...

PCOD doesnt just go away...Its a metabolic disorder and can only be controlled...So even though your periods are regular, please check if you are ovulating properly every month and do check your husband's count too...

You can try to have healthy diet and walking for about 45 minutes every day... For people with PCOD, even though we eat food same as others, metabolism will not be same as them....Never ever blame yourself and get into self-pity mode....It would be easier for you if you can lose some weight so that you can try to avoid pregnancy complications...Losing 5 kg to 7 kg im proves your chances of conceiving...This is what my gyn used to tell me....

Try to avoid eating more of rice and shift to raagi, oats etc...And include fruits and vegetables....Avoid fried and baked items...

    All the Best...
