we will be moving to australia - sydney or melbourne soon. my kids (aged 5 and 10) will be starting their school is australia. Want to know when should i apply for their admission and in which class? In India: Elder is right now in class V and will be going to class VI from april 2012 and younger in KG- and will be going to class-I from april 2012. I think the AU-session starts in January 2012. since there is a mismatch, What is the best month for us to go there- so that they do not missout on the classes and do not loose a year.
We Our school years are roughly from Jan 27th-Dec18th, The year that they are put into is based on there age so if they were born from Aug05 - July 06 they would be in KG class which started in Jan 11, and Aug04-July05 will be in the grade 1 class which started in Jan 11. Hope i didn't confuse you, i can clarify further if you need me to.
thanks a lot. if i arrive inbetween a session can i put my kids in the ongoing session in between or it has to be necessarily before dec / jan ie: before the session starts - if its a govt school / non-govt school ?
