    Hi,

I want to include methi leaves in my diet.I made regular dhal with methi the following way.Pressure cooked methi leaves, moong dal, onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chilly.Mashed and added salt and tadka. It tasted bitter.I struggled hard and completed it:drowning

Any other recipes out of methi that could mask the bitterness of methi will be appreciated.

P.S: The methi leaves were big,not tender. Is it the reason for bitterness?

    Thanks in advance.

Try Alu methi, Spinach with methi, Paneer Methi , Methi Paratha , methi and Peas.... If you find it bitter, USe it with other vegetables and small quantities. Methi Paratha tastes good and you can incorporate Methi leaves directly and actually you can have it daily too

    Chotumetu,

once you rinse and chop them ,mix it with little salt and leave for 5 mins.then squeeze out the leaves and cook.it will reduce the bitterness.
Also you can just make a stir fry with the tadka and once methi is cooked add shredded coconut to it this will reduce the bitterness/
I add methi to chicken curry or any other gravies or curries you make.
but additind it along with chicken and potato taste good because of the masals we use for chicken .gives a good aroma..

    I am hungry now:drowning

You can add a little jaggery. This will reduce the bitterness of the methi.
Also, once you start eating lots of methi, you will start developing a taste for it and start liking its bitterness :)

You could try methi with chana dal.

    Here is the recipe

Soak channa dal for about an hour and pressure cook it along with the following ingredients

    1.Methi leaves chopped
2.Slit green chillies (adjust as per your taste . I use 4)
3.Tomatoes (1/2 to 1 tomato depending on the amount of leaves and dal)
    4.Salt
    5.Pods of garlic
    6.Could add ginger too

Once it is cooked mash it and do the tadka in which i add mustard, cumin and fenugreek seeds. It goes well with roti too .

    Hi
You can make methi malai mattar. It just tastes yummy and very easy to make. You can also add the chopped leaves to the roti dough while making the dough. You can make methi rice and methi pulao as well.
    Hope this helps.
