My kid's problem

Hi friends, i am banu. My kid was 2yrs old but he didnt talking yet. I am so sad of that. What should i do? What is the way and tips for growth well for my kid? Pls help me friends.

please consult a paediatrician and he might refer you to a speech therapist or other appropriate doctor.

Not all kids talk at 2yrs..does he/she say or try to say few words?? mingling with other daycare may motivate them to talk..a daycare may help..but if your child doesn't say anything, you should consult the doctor..

Please consult pediatrician earliest.
I am telling one of my friend’s incidents recently I heard from her:
Her Son was also not speaking till 2 years. She consulted many doctors everybody told no problem. However when she consulted some doctor in Chennai, he suggested to go to dietitian. They found child has milk allergy and his growth was not proper because of this allergy. She stopped giving milk and followed strict diet for a child. Within three months child started speaking. Everything went very well.
So check with doctor all possibilities. I never heard of above thing before. That is why sharing with you.
Do not worry…if he speaks some words then you need to motivate him to speak that’s yet…..

Hi OP,

Does he understand when you talk to him? Do you see any hearing issues?

If he understands you and is able to speak few words , no need to worry.

My Son spoke very few words till he was 3 yr and after his third birthday he started speaking in sentences as if he was just hurling out everything he has held inside him for so long. The reason for my SOn's late speaking is that we are from multilingual family and it takes children more time to speak. Within an year he was speaking two languages fluently.

I also have similar issue like armummy.
As they get to see two languages ,they get confused.Once my daughter going to school,she picked up one language.

It's not advisable to keep TV for small children.That will effect there speaking abilities.

Under 2,the TV should avoid completly.

I have same issues like priya and arumummy.
though DD is only 14 months.. but she speaks fewer words than most kids her age. reason - we speak multiple languages at home.. in laws speak to her in their regional language. and i speak to her in hindi and english.

but i hope she learns and speaks soon.. im waiting to hear the words 'amma/mumma/mom'... whichever language.. but waiting for her to call me mother

I too had this fear once. My son was talking alright, but even I felt he was talking less than his age.

My brother-in-law suggested to use Tongue cleaner to clean his tongue regularly.

I started doing that, and whether it is because of that or not, he now talks more than his age :bonk

and also the words come out more clearly than before

I agree with a couple of you here, asking "Banu" not to worry.
But as a Speech therapist I may not agree to:
1. waiting and only waiting long for things to get better on its own
2. saying its only because of bi/multilingual environment
3. Sorry but 'tongue cleaner' may not help here.

Not talking at 2yrs could be of a concern. Please do check with your Pediatrician immediately. If you are already into a clinical work up, let us know.
If you haven't consulted anybody, then my suggestion would be "please don't waste time".....its precious for your child.

Hi SLV,

At two years when I consulted Dr in US, They said just wait for some more time as he was speaking gibberish and can communicate his needs.

At 2.5 years when I consulted Couple of Dr's in India, They said wait and put him into Play school and that will help.

OP,
You might talk to your Pead to get thier advice.
