When is the right time to perform a pregnancy test after the missed period?

    Right time for HPT ???

    Dear Friends
    Can you please tell me which is right time for HPT ??
    Will HPT give near accurate result when taken in the 60 days after missing the period ?? Or will it show correct result only when taken at the right time ie, immediately after miising the period ??
    Is the first urine of the day to be used for HPT ?? Or the urine during anytime of the day can be used ??
    Please suggest and help in this regard.

    Dear Subha,

    The best time to take HPT is after 7 days of missing the periods. I see you are in the US, there are HPT kits available in US which can detect pregnancy even before a missed period. Usually you can find the details on top of the cover.

    Why do confuse yourselves by taking an early test...Doctors always suggest a 15 days wait..that is on the 45th day of your missing period you can very well go ahead..if you are really curious and not able to control try it atleast after 10 days.

    First urine sample(once you wake up in the morning) will do.

    Subha,
    As other said, it is better to wait 10 to 15 days from the day you missed period.
    You can even buy a digital pregnancy kit which is easy to interpret the result. You must be getting it very easily in US.

    BTW, I think you didn't understand my doubt properly. I had my periods on June 3rd and I didn't get periods till date. Its already 60 days and I didn't get my periods. Now is it right time to go for HPT. Will it give near correct result when taken so late ??

    As you are already 60 days from your LMP HPT will show accurate results if you test now.Do the test with first early morning sample.All the best:thumbsup Do tell us the good news soon.

    HPT should clearly show positive now if pregnant... But you should not have waited so long for taking HPT.. Please see a doctor..

    Hi Shubha,
    Do try with the clear blue digital. At this point, you should be able to get a clear positive/negative. Btw, since you are so far off from your date, do you have any symptoms at all? If you are pregnant, you should be 9-10 weeks along. If so, you may have a symptom or two.
