I agree with Pumpkin. We never cease to bask in our past glory (of hundreds if not thousands of years ago). Nor do we stop telling ourselves that a day is not too far when we will become a super power again. While we keep celebrating the past and dreaming about a bright future, countries smarter than us (read China and Brazil) are racing way past us by putting all their efforts into their present. I am always amazed when people throw up figures on what percentage of doctors/engineers in US are of Indian origin. While these figures are thrown up to glorify India, any sane person will question why so many people of Indian origin had to leave their motherland to pursue their professions (at which they excel invariably) elsewhere. PS: Pumpkin, thank you for posting this. I have been meaning to post on similar lines but restrained myself for fear of being vilified and termed as unpatriotic.
