    Hey ish333

Thanks for sharing some beautiful & unique Fats about our MOTHER LAND-INIDA:thumbsup

    Some More :

The name `India’ is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu.

The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name `Hindustan’ combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus.

Usage of anesthesia was well known in ancient India medicine. Detailed knowledge of anatomy, embryology, digestion, metabolism, physiology, etiology, genetics and immunity is also found in many ancient Indian texts.

"What makes a nation, is the past, what justifies one nation against others is the past", says the noted historian Eric Hobsbawm.

Hence, when talking of a nation, it becomes very imperative that the past should also be talked about. And the past of India is as fascinating and interesting as it is momentous.

    Regards!

    you forgot some facts:

we stand first in the world for corruption:rant:rant

30% crime in the world is commited from India

we are the only people who promise and take an oath to be secular but fight over caste and religion

we produce 54% of the toxic gases like CO.

we were the first people to have started melting the mighty HIMALAYAS.

its only in our country if your mother is murdered or raped the verdict will be given only after 4 generations[i.e;grand daughter]

its only in our country where a terrorist is caught who has been responsible for thousands of death is given royal treatment.

it is only in our country where the civil servants[COPS;IAS etc] promise to safeguard the society they themselves are nothing but a shame to the country.
it is only here people need an excuse to kill each other....:rantshakehead

i dnt see in any way our country being great..lets not see what we had centuries back lets see what we have today..

Do you know that JAPAN was a country completely destroyed during the world war II but they started from a scratch and now look where they are.today all the consumer products we use are from JAPAN.i am not trying in any way to show our country in poor light but what am trying to say is what is the use of building the biggest temples and improving technology when we dont know how to respect people???we are nothing in the world map. so lets not boast of wht we are not i dnt agree with the statement-MERA BHARAT MAHAAN!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SORRY

I agree with Pumpkin. We never cease to bask in our past glory (of hundreds if not thousands of years ago). Nor do we stop telling ourselves that a day is not too far when we will become a super power again. While we keep celebrating the past and dreaming about a bright future, countries smarter than us (read China and Brazil) are racing way past us by putting all their efforts into their present.

I am always amazed when people throw up figures on what percentage of doctors/engineers in US are of Indian origin. While these figures are thrown up to glorify India, any sane person will question why so many people of Indian origin had to leave their motherland to pursue their professions (at which they excel invariably) elsewhere.

PS: Pumpkin, thank you for posting this. I have been meaning to post on similar lines but restrained myself for fear of being vilified and termed as unpatriotic.
