A college boy gives his book to a girl with a love letter in it.
He wrote saying, “ If you love me, then you should wear a red color dress tomorrow."
Next day she comes wearing a yellow color dress and returns his book. Seeing this, the boy felt very bad and never looked at her afterwards.
Years went by. That girl got married.
One day, while cleaning his shelf, the book returned by her fell down and a chit came out.
Message was, "I love you too ... I do not have a red Color Dress... Sorry"
Moral: Students should open their text books once in a while.
Note - Now please don't sit filtering all your old books...

    Velan Dines Day!

When Lord Murugan returned home after the fruit fiasco (nyana pallam), Lord Ganesha hosted a big party. Kinda like a welcome home party for Lord Murugan. Murugan accepted the party under one condition that Sage Narada not be invited since he was the main reason for the split in the family. So it was agreed and there was a happening party in Himalayas, where everyone were invited. Indra and his Devas, Lord Shiva and his commandoes were gracious host, Lord Vishnu along with his followers and the whole of Satyalok.
    All except Sage Narada.
Narada Muni felt left out and he went to Lord Brahma and enquired why this bias? Lord Brahma said that he should speak to Goddess Saraswathi, as He cannot mediate in this. Goddess Saraswathi looked at Narada and said, "Son, you may have done the right thing. But Lord Murugan has felt insulted. It is not easy for Murugha to forgive you.
So, here's a solution. Invite him personally to a good dinner party. Tell him it is just you and him alone. He will agree to it. Make sure you give him plenty of fruits. Saraswathi also advised Narada to get the heavenly chef Nala to cook this dinner. The goddes said, "He will be satisfied and His anger towards you will be gone".
Bowing to Goddess Sarawathi, Narada immediately booked a date with Nala. It was the first day of the Maasi month. He knew that Lord Murugan will be busy during 'Thai' month due to Thai Poosam and all. He then called Lord Murugan and invited Him for dinner. After the festivities of 'Thai' Lord Murugan was in a good mood and also his anger towards Lord Narada had diminished by this time. So, he accepted the dinner party.
On that day Lord Narada took five of the rarest fruits in a basket and went to the the dinner. Shortly Lord Murugan joined him. Nala the Master Chef of Heaven, had specially prepared a great meal that day. Lord Murugan was very pleased. After dinner, Lord Murugha gave the fruits that Lord Narada had given him and asked Nala to come up with a good dessert.
Nala using his own unique skills, mixing the fruits with jaggery and ghee qucikly came up with a great recipe. As Sage Narada and Lord Murugan completed the dinner and the dessert, Murugan was so impressed he said, "This is a great day for me. I had an excellent meal and a wonderful dessert. I would like this day to be remembered. Anyone with great mutual love for each other, those split due to mis-understandings and reconciled, then let this day be the right day to make-up with each other. The dessert provided today will be the chief offerings for my temple ".
Thus the dessert - Panchamirtham became a famous offerings in all Murugan temple.
As for the day, well it is still remembered to this day as "

I was not going to come into this thread as I am not a senior citizen. But the curiosity got the best out of me as when we are told not do something, we are curious about what it is. I am glad I came in and it was a fun read.

I was hoping for some comic relief. But it is interesting how the story is woven with details of thai poosam and timing of inviting someone to a meal.

I don't know if any one follows the right recipe for panchamirtham as made by Nala, which would make it heavenly. The ones I have tasted are heavy on vellam which dominates the taste and its solid pieces are not great to bite on, while the banana and dates have become too mushy. Half spoon of it seems too much! Maybe that was the plan of the divine, to keep our sugar levels at check !

    Dear Sir,

Good and interesting story regarding the panchamritanm. is sold in all the shops around this temple in Palani. But the taste is no good. Like Thoughtful said, too much sweet. Sometimes you can feel the mud in it. Probably from the unfiltered jaggery.
The divine recipe is lost with lots of adulteration added.

    Regards
    Uma

Palani panchamritham like palani trade mark sacred ash is duplicated by a few and they sell it online as if it was from the temple. Only a few devotees can really distinguish the original from the duplicate. The panchamritham that was used for abhishekam of the idol seemed to attain certain special characteristics which is difficult to get. The navabhashanam including mercury of which the idol is made of lends and enhance the power of that nectar or ambrosia called panchamritham is mouth watering indeed.
Because of onstant panchamritha-abhishekam since its installation several decades ago, the idol reported shrunk. Is panchamritham is acidic or alkali? Any one knows its pH? A panacea for host of diseases internal external administered orally a d applied too.
