I made a thread sometime back about toxic co workers and had good inputs. Now am Troubled Less in the office and no messages etc.. However..I have few queries to be addreased so that it will make me understand the reality of a workplace and also Know what to Tolerate and what not to.. I have been traumatized and grew up in a unhealthy environment where mental abuse is normalized. So even today i suffer to makr good relationships and always on an alert mode with people. I want to know if the below is common in every workplace or am too tolerant.. I work as a CSR..I always try to be polite to my customers coz they want to Get the best for their hard earned money. Some customers can be very smart but everyone is human and needs good service.Thats how I see people. 1) My collegues sweet talk to customers and uses the word “Nasty B****“ behind their back if they are a little strong... 2) the men in my office are now not disturbing but am sure they will start thr flirting mode if i again relax. 3) The other women are older women and I Just cant seem to relate at all. They talk and act like teens..not sure why it should be my problem but just said that.. Are the above common in a office? Is It coz am in a small office in a small group this happens? How about IT industry or any other white collar jobs? Are Office politics less out there and people more Classy and atleast behave with respect? How do you women handle everything and still remain sane? With my anxiety its stressing me out..
all industries have politics. IT looks nice when shi.t hits the fan and layoff begins. people will do anything. nothing can be done. just keep learning and exploring parallel skills and career roles.
I am sorry I don't have any inputs about workplace in US. I just wanted to ask, is your job remote or you do to office everyday? I am in the situation of job search. Considering the current market, I am just being patient and hoping to get one. I have a career gap. I used to work in IT. How did you get this job? I know this is not relevant to this thread. I was about to post a thread myself about getting a job in US. Then this post was in my notifications and just asking you here. Sorry, just disregard this if you feel good t doesn't fit here in your post.
Every workplace has some ot other issues.sometimes you get good team members and a bad manager or worst team members and a good manager.sometimes work location is bad or volume of work is huge or long working hours.I had gone through all these situations and figured out there is no perfect work environment.
no . may be CSR . and may be due to their background they are more vocal and jerks. IT people cannot get away like this. yes there are always secret flirtations but no one acts like a jerk in open . will get in trouble in a fraction.
I am not in IT. I searched in Indeed and Craigslist and it clicked.sometimes I check with a staffing agency
I don’t know. This just sounds like an unprofessional workplace. None of this behavior would be tolerated where I work.
You can try this. stressful though. example Whitridge Associates hiring Technical Recruiter-Entry Level to Lead Roles-HYBRID in Randolph, Massachusetts, United States | LinkedIn
Anika, I understand that you are a sensitive person and so you tend to overthink about people. My sister is the same, whenever she rants to me about other people, I only tell her one thing. You can't change others, but whats in your control is the way you react. Problems are same for everyone in this world, the way we react to those problems only makes it small or big. I know its easier said than done, but practice going to a Zen mode in office. (like raman aandaalum ravanan aandaalum enakkoru kavalai illa mode ) Only worry/care about yourself and your immediate family members and dont give a damn about anyone/anything. Once Sathguru was asked, Do you get angry sometimes? I really liked his savage response. "No, I have not given that priviledge to anyone, no one can make me angry!"
