They say sharing one's resolutions such as exercise or money saving goals with others makes us feel accountable and more likely to follow through. Then, we hear advice that disclosing our plans to others can jinx things or draw the evil eye. And, to my surprise, I read that Jon Kabat-Zinn, the mindfulness pioneer, cautions beginners to be reticent: "If you are just starting out, it helps to be on the lookout for the natural impulse to talk with other people about your meditation practice or to casually mention that you are beginning to meditate. It is easy to dissipate your energy in this way." Complicated, no? Fortunately, the decision whether to share with others a fine post you come across is straight-forward.
