@Needtobestrong - Your baby is only a year old. In a year or so, when she is older and going to a play school for a few hrs you will have a little more time to manage a few online lessons.
I have done only a couple of things while my kids were that little. It was mostly for feel good factor. I decided to get into a good masters program when my dd was around one. I started seriously prepping for my GMAT. I used to be home alone with my child all day long. It was a struggle but I managed to study while the baby napped and at nights . I used to cook full fledged too. I didn’t know the art of simple small meals.

I would give her breakfast, play with her for ten minutes. While she played, I often chopped/prepped. Then run to the kitchen while she was occupied and make one thing. By the time it was time for her lunch, I would somehow be done with lunch cooking, loading the dishes and picking up around the house. I then gave her a bath/lunch/play/ put for nap. She was a terrible sleeper and it took me an hour at least to put her down but somehow I managed. I would get an hour or two(if lucky) then. Evenings I would take her to the park/strolled with her. I met a few moms in the community and we would take walks together. I would make lunch extend to dinner but would make fresh rotis that we would eat. I would put her to bed and be exhausted but still put in an hour or so.
I think it took me 3-4 months to prep and get ready but I finally managed to give the exam.
Ah the feeling when I scored 99th percentile in my GMAT with a full score in the essay and got called by Carnegie to send in an application(I sent them my scores). I couldn’t pursue an mba because of the moolah involved but that gave me such a big boost.

I then decided to do certifications in my field. All that studying had given me confidence that I could do it. I followed the same routine and got three certifications. I also joined for a masters online and cleared the first full year. By then, my daughter was three. I decided it was time to start looking for jobs.

I uploaded my resume online and the first interview I had the interviewer wondered where I was for these in between years. I was so nervous when I told him I stayed home with a baby. I got the job. He told me even though I stayed with the baby I didn’t stop making improvements. He also has a sahm wife and told me how much he respected women who stayed home for babies. He was my boss for four years and it was a great experience.

Take baby steps. Pick one thing you want to do. Whatever it is, certification, online masters, learning something new - it will give you a sense of accomplishment. Once you feel that, it’s easy to use that high to do other things.

Reg the husband, work pressure in India was unreal for us. I understand where he is coming from. That doesn’t mean you are having an easy life. I’ve also felt that support comes when you start doing things. It’s impossible for anyone to gauge how much you want to do something. Once you start the process, you might observe changes.

I actually did two onlinecertification couses in Medical field. Medical coding and billing from AAPC. Now doing a one year medical coding internship from AAPC. I live in USA. I'm not legally allowed to work yet but wanted to be prepared once I am able to. I also wanted to do an online PG course in Healthcare Informatics but due to the cost factor had to settle for this instead. It's not the greatest certification or anything but keeps you occupied and active and gives life a purpose. I suggest you look into what kind of course you would like to do, look into the job possibilities in your area, look at the cost factors, see if you can manage it with your routine at home, and of course see that your husband is on board with it. It's better to start with some certification course, so that you get a hang of managing things. If possibilities come your way do a PG course.

@Laks09 just wanted to let you know I'm your fan. I'm so inspired reading this. What an amazing women you are. I'm trying to come out of my comfort zone but just fall back every time because it is so easy to not challenge myself. I need inspiration and motivation to do better in our life. I convince myself giving so many reasons but at the end of the day I feel guilty since I know what I'm doing is not correct. It is struggle between my lazy side and intelligent side. Need to jump start before it becomes too late .Thanks for this post .
