I was talking with BH's aunt this morning. Her daughter has been in hospital for a month with bone marrow failure. She has had a bone marrow transplant but it has not worked. Aunt told me that she needed platelets with O+ blood group and replacement donors for blood.

Now let me change the topic, but believe me there is a connection. Much is said about the Bangalore traffic and its vagaries. One never knows where a scooterist overtakes from, when or why. This afternoon I was driving and just as I was turning onto the main road, I remembered how worried BH was when I did it for the first time. Just as the thought crossed my mind and just as I turned to my right to check for any traffic before turning, bang, a biker came and I bumped into him. I was totally shocked. I stopped the car, got out and checked out whether he was hurt. He said he was fine, but his bike had some minor damages. I gave him my phone number and told him to let me know what the damages came to. Just as he was opening his wallet to take out a piece of paper to write down my number, I saw another piece of paper which said "Blood group". He wrote down the number as well as the number of the car. The conversation that followed has to be the weirdest even by my own standards.

"Now totally at a tangent, I wanted to ask you something."
    "What is that?"
"A relative is in need of O+ platelets and blood. I just saw the words 'blood group' when you opened your wallet. Would you know if any of your friends could donate blood?"
    "My blood group is O+".
"Oh, then would you be able to help?"

I called up the aunt to get more details. The guy called back in the evening about the bike and asked about the address of the hospital.

What can I say? I am overwhelmed. My trust in human nature has gone up today. Just as I write this, he called from the hospital to tell me that he was there to donate blood. This is seriously mind boggling. You knock a person down. Then you touch him for a blood donation and he actually does it. This is a case of 'bumping' into a person who can help at a time of need.

What a way of finding a blood donor! I am sure if anyone had been with me, they would not have allowed me to ask. When I am alone, I allow myself to be weird beyond my own imagination. Who knows? It might not hurt.

Satchi!!! That is incredible. Welcome to the world of "You ask and you get it!" I am not sure about you but I have always believed that the world is a lovely place and good things do happen.

You know what as I read through your snippet, I can see your joy, your astonishment and your eagerness to share all pop out together. I cannot tell you how happy I am that your cousin got the donor and that man on the bikes...the best to him! Indeed there are good people around.

Also keep up that spontaneous nature, it has helped many a time. Where others hesitate to open their mouth, I don't think twice about such things meaning while asking for help. Happy for you and a big hug to you for being so spontaneous in asking! I am sure it was all planned just the right way by the Universe.

So true Sabitha. She is such a lovely person, I can't help asking 'why she' and I really hope something works out for her soon. Also the main job I set out to do did not get done because I found another shop in place of the Crossword book store I wanted to visit. So all I can think is this was destined to be. Only I can't get over the Universe's way of giving what I wanted so badly.

Of late I have not met too many nice people outside my circle of close friends. I am so happy that my trust has been restored by a young person with the heart to help.

Thanks jskls. My heartfelt thanks to that young man. Don't know if he knows what he has done today - given someone his precious blood and restored my faith in humanity. As I got out of my car, a little crowd gathered. I was surprised when they told me to call someone from home, not to panic and asked if I wanted water. I would have expected them to jump at me or grab my car key away! That is what I have often seen in Bangalore. My guardian angels were with me.

Yes Satchitananda, truth is stranger than fiction.God comes in the form of human beings( Deivam manushya roopena).
We have many such instances in our family. My elder sister was pregnant. She had already lost five male children during delivery or after three or four days.
She was pregnant with her 6th child. We wanted to admit her earlier in the govt hospital( in those days there were no private nursing homes in our village/town.As we were going by a taxi to the hospital 12 miles away, my sister became very uneasy;my mother felt the urgency, immediately stopped the car.We entered into a stranger's house.A small girl in her 20s came out ,.My mother talked in Tamil, she answered in Telugu.Somehow the girl escorted my sister into the house.Believe it not, within 5 mts the cry of infant was heard. It was a normal delivery.
The girl, we understood was a midwife working in some remote village and had come to see her ailing mother in seventies.
We were not known to each other. She was God sent. The baby was hale and healthy .We came home the same evening.Every one was surprised .

Coincidences are so amazing. One wonders how they happen. Then one wonders 'are they really coincidences or divine plan at work?'
