    Dear Chitra Madam,

I read ur post on Lord Shiva, as usual, I never knew there were so many significances to the different forms of Shiva. Each time I read one of ur posts I feel a little enlightened with new and valuable information.
That kolam was also very good. I love kolams. I remember growing up trying to learn a kolam just by looking at it once. Hmmm....good old days...thanks.

    Jothi.

    Dear Jothi,
    Thanks for your feedback.
When the formless God is denoted by a specific form, every attribute has a significance.
You are right, kolam is very much in our blood.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Vidya,
Sorry - I noticed this post only now.
Just doing rituals will not develop any faith in us. We must know the significance to enjoy the rituals fully.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Hi ladies!
    How are you all doing?

Lord Shiva also named as the Destroyer.
But without any confusion lets discuss what type of destroys he is?

He destroys our imperfections in order to ensure our spiritual progress.
He destroys our illusions, desires and ignorance. He destroys our evil and negative nature.
He destroys our old memories, so that we can move on with the movement of time.
He destroys our relationships, attachment, impurities, physical and mental wrong doings, the effects of bad karma, our passions and emotions and many things that stand between us and God as impediments to our progress and inner transformation.
And in the end when we have made sufficient progress, when we are ready and prepared, and when we are willing without any inner conflict, he destroys death.

This is how much significant our Lord Shiv for us.

    Om Namah Shivay!
I would also like to add one point significance of Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva has shrines in almost every village, on the banks of every river and even in remote hilly areas of India.

Thanks nini you described very well why Lord Shiva called as The Destroyer.
