I can't bring myself to say a simple thanks for such a moving feedback, Lalitha. The fact that you were carried away by the narration,you have very beautifully expressed.
All of us are blessed. If we can imagine Villidasan, Sri Ramanuja standing late in the night (now also the time is 1130 pm) at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, and at the behest of Ramanuja, the Great Lord opening his most beautiful eyes for Villi to see, the Lord disturbing his sleep of many aeons for the sake of a single devotee.... unless we are blessed how can we even think of this scene, Lalitha?

Love does miracles simply because it is God. Love is not God's quality. But God is Love's manifestation. Love can heal,love can create, love can sustain and do anything that God can do.

How Ramanuja prayed to the Lord is not known to us. There are various versions. I have been following his life and only a prayer like the one I have described jells with the rest of his life.

Thanks Lalitha. Being able to write about the great saint, his most loving disciple and the loving God, that itself, I consider it as my blessing. Thanks once again.

I don't know much about God and religion. But one thing I know for certain. If in His sannathi tears well up then you are in love with him. You know the beauty, Krithika? He is in love with each and every one of us. But only a very few reciprocate His love.

We have let him down several times. He has not done that even once. We have been unfaithful to him. We cheat on Him. He has never been unfaithful to us.

My eyes were also full reading about Surutapalli Easwaran. Can you tell me where exactly it is? If He wishes, I would love to see Him in that state. I have never heard of that earlier.

Love is not the way of worship. It is love which has to be worshipped as God is nothing but a manifestation of love. People mistakenly think that love is one of the qualities of God. They are wrong. God is but one of the manifestations of love. In another level God and love are the same.

And the quality of love is dependent on its intensity and not on the object of love. That's why I said love for a street dog is better than the love for the omnipotent,omnipresent and omniscient God. It has to be better because when we love a street dog, we don't expect much in return, except perhaps a few waggings of its tail. But when we love the all-powerful God we want the whole world, this world and the next one too, in return. A love loaded with ulterior motive is even more shameless than prostitution.

Very well said, Devika. Poetical expressions. I simply loved it.

As I told you earlier we do not have any record of the saint's prayer. But after reading his life story and after seeing his qualities I could say with conviction that his prayer could have been only like this. If the saint had prayed for any other motive (May he ever remain blessed, for such thoughts would have never come a mile near him) God would not have opened his eyes. For God sees only the heart and ignores the words and actions. I just imagined the words given the nature of the great saint's heart.

And we should practise love too, Devika. To be loving does not mean that we should not be competitive or skilful. Love is not throwing alms at a beggar; but love is avoiding harsh haggling with the vendors and rickshawwallas, and give them their due, so that they do not become beggars. Love is not giving our children whatever they want, but showing them the right path to live, even if that involves some degree of chastisement.

The last two lines of the paasuram are even more touching,

Icchuvai thavira yaan poi indira lokamaalum
Acchuvai tharinum venden aranga maa nagarulaane

And the next one in that film,

Oorilen kaaniyillai uravu matroruvar illai
paaril nil paatha moolam patrilen parama murthy
kaaroli vannane kannane katharukinren

My Lord, who resides in Srirengam
I can't call any town as my own
Nor do I have any friends or relatives

Our Acharyas have written pages and pages of explanation for the word kalai kan, which means a protector, a sanctuary etc. The word is pregnant with meanings.

Search for it in the net, understand its meaning and then tell me.
