Finally and Finally watched CHENNAI EXPRESS...I must agree I did not enjoy it at all. It was just so silly and Deepika Padukone is much better as a Mumbaiya girl than a Southie. I preferred Shahrukh's acting to Deepika, I was yawning throughout. Thank God its done with and over now.

Watched Thalaiva last weekend. All the supposed-to-be twists came out looking so clichéd. It's okay to copy scenes for a movie...but to have copied scenes throughout the movie??? :rant

I can understand the logic of a undercover cop trying to lure a guy into falling in love with her, but would any such cop think about catching a butterfly in a busy street as a way to attract the guy? Seriously, a cop? Catching butterfly?? In a busy street??? And that's supposed to be attractive and not idiotic???

And that's just the beginning of the illogical scenes in the film. You have a cop dancing like a seasoned dancer, and a dancer fighting like a seasoned gangster. And on top of all that, you also have Sam Anderson making a cameo! Seriously! Why??? And the twist about Ponvannan was the maha-clichéd of all clichéd.

Vijay looks good but his acting as usual, leaves a lot to be desired. You can't feel his shock of losing his father in a bomb blast, or the feeling of being cheated by his girlfriend or even the sorrow of losing all his people at the end of the film. But at least he's much better than Amala Paul, who not only acts bad but looks bad as well! If you want to portray an actress whose beauty had the whole city besotted with, you would seriously think about investing in good make up artist. Bad make up makes Amala Paul looks reallllly bad!

Songs were just okay. Nothing sticks to my mind really. But I don't blame G.V.Prakash. It's hard to get inspired to give good music when the movie has no original substance in the first place.

When the film had problems releasing in Tamil Nadu theatres, I remember the producer crying out aloud in the press seeking for the release of the film, failing which he would become a bankrupt. After watching the film, I believe that the delay in the release was what saved the producer at the end of the day. Had the film released on time with no controversy at all, it probably would have tanked in its first week itself.

    Same pinch Sofea...

I was also forced to watch this movie over the weekend...

+ve: Vijay looks damn good and cool (he shd be in his early 40's right?!)...Santhanam's comedy is ok kinds...like his typicals..I liked some of those one-liners..Sathyaraj has done his role well..

-ve: my god!..Amala paul's look...was a big let down for the movie..in a movie like Thuppakki, though the heroine role is supposed to be a dummy, Kajal looked very very good in songs and attractive too..In a typical Vijay movie, thats what you expect from a heroine..but, this girl looks horrible (may be the director's choice to have worked with his gf. but a pain to watch for us)...I felt that the other girl (small character played by a TV actress,) is far far better...scenes, dialogs, background, art - everything is copied from 2-3 movies like Nayagan, Sarkar...

At the end, my son said, only good thing is "Vaanganna song"..becoz he was used to listening to the song and he liked Vijay's dance in that song..

Overall, not worth watching even in thiruttu vcd..

I watched Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara...on Sunday..

Quite enjoyed watching the movie, the concept..liked some of those witty dialogs, funny face expressions etc. though it had some resemblance to Dil Chata Hai kind of movies...

    Worth watching!

Agree, Vijay should be praised for maintaining his body well all these years. The rest of the Kollywood actors may have ups and downs but this guy has always maintained his weight and body well. And he dances like a dream.

Nevertheless, I wonder how these two qualities alone qualifies him to become the most sought after actor in Kollywood? The reason behind his huge fan base will always remain a mystery to me!
