    Hi Arunarc,

Thanks so much for sharing your info.

Definitely it is better to avoid drinking tap water if you are not sure about the safety.

    Keep posting....

    Cheers

    Dear Krithika,

In Oman also, water is hard. But we had fitted filters, so we use tap water for cooking purpose only and bottled water for drinking purpose.

    Ranjita.

    Hi Dreams,

Michigan must be really cold now...right?:)

People are now switching over to canned/filtered water for cooking mainly due to health reasons. Though periodically, we get letters from counties proclaiming that their water is absolutely safe, the public is worried about the pipes/lines through which the water is being sent.

As for using filter in pitcher/dispenser, you do get in bigger sizes that are very convenient. If you have more than one filters, then it would be easy for you, especially when the usage is more rather than having just one.:2thumbsup:

    Thanks for posting dreams...

    Cheers

    Dear Friendds

We are BLESSED with palar water in plenty......even during scarcity time..we get enough water.and we used to store that in overhead tank and use it for cooking as well as drinking purpose.........

Drinking Purpose - i have installed AQUA GUARD WATER PURIFIER.........so i used to fill my water dispenser and use it for drinking........

For cooking - we got palar water seprate pipeline in kitchen........so use directly from that

for washing / cleaning purpose - we still have enough water in the WELL .....and though pipes we use that......

But .Water Porblem is very major probs of TN.........i can see crores of people suffering without water and fighting for it in the streets during scarcity..............even my neighbourse will suffer without water..........at times..........

We are really BLESSED with enough water.......so let me THANK GOD.........:bowdown:bowdown:bowdown..for given us enough.........

    Hai,
good topic, with the summer approaching. All is not rosy rosy in US, is it? From what you people have put in, it seems that water problems is more there than in TN.
I was born and brought up in Kerala, where water is not at all a problem. I used to drink directly from the tap at home, we never even used glass for that. Even from the roadside taps, we could drink, it was so safe. But with the increased population, there also scarcity of water has become the norm in some places.
I used to hate Chennai because of the hard well water here in my place. I had to drink only that, no canned water then.
The cooker has layers of hard material and if boiled, the water will have white precipitation.
Later in 1996, the canned water was available and I started to buy that for drinking only. Now recently we have installed a Reverse Osmosis filter which filters and changes the borewell water like mineral water. I use it for cooking as well. Thank God that we blessed with the RO.

    Hi Varloo,

Thanks a lot for your reply.. :thankyou2:.I should say iam honored:bowdown since you have shared information in this threadBow!

First, I would like to clarify something. There is absolutely no water scarcity in US and there never has been...as far as I know!

It is still rosy..as far as availabily of water is concerned! ( Let me not go into the economic situation of US right now...as it will be a total deviation and a source for another thread altogether) :)

But the question/choice arise for what type of water the people prefer. It is not like there is "Water water everywhere , but not a drop to drink". No, it does not fall into that category either.

Bottom line, it comes down preference of the individuals due to health and financial reasons.

Even though the cities vouch for the safety of the tap water...infact they send us a detailed report every month....some people are skeptical about the ways through which the water reach us ( through old/worn out pipe lines)

Off late, people are becoming very aware of water quality and are health conscious.

That is why I started this topic...not because of water deficit in US.;-)

It is great that you are using RO filter at home...enjoy drinking pure and safe water!

Keep posting your interesting inputs Varloo.....

    Regards
    Krithika ( Jithiks)
