Apart from peanut, coconut chutney & sambhar, idlies tastes good with andhra ginger chutney (made with fried ginger, jaggery, roasted red chillies, tamarind), vada curry, kara kolumbu, tomato curry, korma and ofcourse with idli podi mixed in hot ghee.

When my son was 9 months old, he used to like to take Idlis with coriander leaves chutney. Please be careful as it is difficult to stop eating idlis if we have this dip.

wow very gud suggestion, especially thengai podi.
Guess wat I did last week, I tried with Tomato salsa.. No wonder our Idli is world famous, it was so good. Cant even think a receipe from down south of India gently goes well with something mexican..
    Here is the receipe.

    1. I roaster the red bell pepper in fire, jus grilled for 2-3 mins and peeled removing the seeds.
    2. Added tomatoes, normal one, removed the pulp.
    3. Added one thai green chilli and basil leaves in blended them well.
    4. salt and pepper to taste.
It was so awesome, I remember my mom making this with coriander and onions, cutting out peppers. But this equally good.
    Do give a try.
