Dear Mam, You have motivated me with these words. I am going only for simple dishes. Today for chapathi I used the red gravy for making the side dish. Ammanukku innikku Badham Kheer - an All time, All age favourite ! Romba romba nalla vandhudhu. Inba couldn't control himself having it. He finished it off and then asked me if I had enough. I said, 'yes'. But, he figured out that I just tasted it. Athai is very religious. So, Inba got used to these goodies. We are not Brahmins. But, Athai makes something for Inba and Anni for Varalakshmi Pooja, Avani avittam etc. She had even learnt all the authentic Naivedhyams. I have to Great day!
Radha, nobody will believe if you say that you got puttu in one go!! That is record breaking!! :thumbsup You are fulfilling the very purpose of my creating these gravies! Thanks, thanks & thanks.
Hi Inbaroja, really wonderful of your MIL to learn the dishes of other sects too. We are Kannadiga Brahmins (not Raos) long settled in Kerala. We used to live in Brahmin areas there and so my mother makes all the dishes that Palghat Brahmins make and also Malayalee dishes (all veg only). We don't celebrate Karadaiyan nombu but Amma makes the kara adai (both sweet and hot) after the nombu is over. I must say that she beats all others in the taste, her's will be the best. This is not because she is my mother, it is the truth.
Roja, I think your MIL is a great motivator for you!! Only then the interest continues.Though we are not Christians, do we not love & make plum cake?? If you love to specialise in "only simple" dishes, you will graduate soon!! Step by step progress is best!
Dear Mami, Yesterday I made the Sukku/Dry Ginger Kuzumbu. I reduced the sukku and pepper powder. It was very soothing for us after a heavy saapadu we had outside the previous day. Actually, I love the smell of chukku and was waiting to make this :tongue. Thanks
helo mam, yesterday i made alu poha for tiffin. It was too good and my husband loved it. He cudnt stop himself tasting it from the kadai directly. First time i watched him tasting like that. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recepie. with love, latha.
Dear Saras sukku & ginger are tongue-teasers, call them ticklers!! Just mix some sukku pdr+vellam & eat - you will feel "mouth-fresh"!!
Thanks, Latha. Alu poha IS ONE OF MY VERY SIMPLE RECIPES!! You can top with some crushed peanuts if you like!!
Hi Varloo Aunty, Great job by your mother! 'Unity in diversity'! I thought of writing to you as well. Wishing you a good health. Take care.
