    Sally,
An English lady married to an Indian guy not removing the thaali ? That is a good message.
If thaali is not needed, why an engagement or marriage ring alone is required i wonder ? Ring is the western symbol and mangalsutra is our symbol. When they remove their ring, we conclude that their marriage is over.

I recently read that after Prince William marries Kate Middleton, he is not planning on wearing a wedding ring. They'll still be married, still in love... just no ring on his finger! His reason was, he's just not a fan of jewellery.

I'm not a fan of jewellry(lucky Dh :idea) , so I don't use thali/mangalsutra etc. I hate using the ring too:). I do wear my ring sometimes though. One another reason is my thali is quite heavy, it makes me uncomfortable. May be I should get those cute thin black bead mangalsutras:cheers

Not necessarily like ASG said prince William is not planning to keep his wedding ring on and it doesn't make his marriage any less valid. It's all in the mind set :).
    Thanks for the info :cheers

Even if Prince William sneezes it will be in the news now, it doesn’t have to be anything uncommon :rotfl

They're exchanging rings at the ceremony, he's just not going to wear his after marriage. Or maybe he'll change his mind and he will.

Signed up just to be able to comment here.

My wife removes it when we go out to parties and it p....s me off. But not to the extent that I want to quarrel about it.

We do not wear rings or any chain, it does not mean we are not committed, I do not like rings or chains, except an ultra thin chain with a small diamond.

I think Thali is only symbolic, but love is in the heart. If love is strong then what is the need to show symbols to the rest of the world?
