though i wrote this long back as diwali was nearing and my thoughts of him flooded back today archana again opened the thoughts so fresh...love to tangy...

    Tangy my love…
I remember reading a book “every night josephine about a pet by jacqueline susann wonderful one and I can reckon what that feeling is, when he came to me as a month old babe, so fluffy white ball, and wonder that he was to all of us here, he slept on chitra all night would whine and when she put him down, would pee and asked to be taken back on her chest. The night feeds she used to make like for a baby, cereal veg which the poms love..

She used to give him a bowl full of milk, and when he finishes it he would be on his two legs with his tummy jutting out like our middle aged men with generous waistline, and he had his front paws just hanging above, so once when we took him to our vet, he would pat him with love, rascal drinking too much milk aren’t u and he would look towards chitra and say pl do not feed him so much he is too young once he develops the habit of running around then we can go ahead and feed him full bowl.

Now tangy was growing by leaps and bound and I had a fawn color sweety another pom who was training him up for all naughty things. We had this konda konda game that it fetch in tamil and he would run behind ball and stand with it, slowly had to pat him and cajole to bring it, once he understood it was a never tiring game we had the whole day..

I had to take care of him so that he does not run out for a very long time even toilet I had to clean to save him from the traffic, later he became a one woman dog, and when my brother used to throw the ball at him tangy tangy konda, he would take the ball and run around the compound and get into my house and never come out, neither giving the ball to anyone…

He was like the comic strip guy snoopy would stand on with one hand hanging in air, and watching the squirrels on the neighbor’s roof and it was real fun to watch him stand like that, he hated burkha ladies, would scream when they pass, as we had mostly Muslim neighbors..

He hated small children who irritated him no end, and loved to run across the street from one end to the other, with all his white fur flying above him, would always show off..
When tangy came up early morning he would jump over me and lick my face or some prank to wake me up, and would sit on my legs to watch the mirror which was opposite to him, admiring himself this was a very great pass time for him.
No crows can come near, he would thrash the day light of them, by pouncing and scaring them, then I got him a mate jujaaan and she was very naughty, would not allow him to fetch the ball would stand halfway and when he returns, she would catch hold of his bushy tail and never let go, and he has to give in and give the ball to her.

I had a gift of another pair of poms from a friend both female one was Betty and the other Ronnie, and Betty was the highly intelligent one among all, and she the minute she finds tangy on my lap would shout as if someone is at door and the minute tangy gets down to run to the door she would be on my lap, this way tangy had to always keep his mind sharp with so many females around him…
Poms cannot stand cold, their hind legs get pulled once the rain start so we used to give them a little rum a syringe full to keep them warm, and that day is known as takoom which my husband had the habit of telling that all will be well with just one takhoom a peg..

It was just another diwali and as usual he was very scared of those sounds so used to be under my bed and never eat for the 5 days that people burst crackers.. it was during this diwali he ran out to mate with some dog and vanished like those sparkle out of my life for good. Come diwali and tangy will come with full force in my memory, and still long to see him…
