Try walking around during the post meal test that should bring down your glucose levels.
    All the best!

Oh really Deepa....Thnx for your suggestion, I didnt know about it.
I dnt know how my sugar level is high, even I dnt like sweet also and I have been very active during my entire pregnancy. Anyways I'm north Indian Veg, so Is there any suggestion, what to eat for post meal test...??

Now these days I'm having pain in my lower abdomen and my vagina very frequently, I'm very excited about my LO, but some time very scared also.

I wish everything should be smoothly.

Same here Preeti. I dont have a sweet tooth and never thought I would fail the glucose test. But dont worry this is just a pregnancy related imbalance and would disappear post delivery.

For the test eat your normal meal ( or it would be cheating) but since you know that there is a bit of glucose imbalance, try to increase your protein intake with the meal. Protein levels the carbs/ sugar levels. The walking part is imp ( I didnt know abt this and just sat there after drinking that huge cup of sugary syrup!!). Ideally we all do walk around after meals and this burns the carbs and reduces the glucose levels. Hope this works for you :thumbsup

    Hi All,
\ I'm from the Nov club. Was just excited to read couple of birth announcements and everyone else's preparation. All the best to all of you.

I also saw that some of youi have experience with GD. So, I've some questions. I recently started on GD diet and my levels were high 2-3 times (140-150) after breakfast and lunch. The doc suggested to start insulin, I asked for 1 more week to see if I can modify menu and see. But, I realize I'm already eating less carbs for bfast and lunch - don't think can reduce further. So, any thots on insulin? Anyone on it?
And, in India, what is the post meal sugar level allowed? In US, for me the said < 135. Thanks.

    Hi Riva,

My doc too suggested insulin since my fasting levels were a bit out of control in week 32-33. I insisted that I could work on it and since week 34 onwards its in control.( I think this has something to do with the hormonal levels from week 34 onwards). I even bought the insulin and syringes but from the nxt day onwards the level were in control- less than 95. My doc follows 140 as the cut off level and I think its different in India.

This is what worked for me so far-

    - walking 15- 30 min after meals
    - eating a light breakfast- 25 carbs ( My doc suggested 35 minimum but that spiked my readings). Then after about 2 hrs- eating another 25- 30 carbs. Breakfast levels were tough for me too and it helped to cut down the carbs. For ex since last week my sugar spiked with 35-45 carb breakfast so now I have 2 idlis ( 30 carbs) and eggs. After checking my level in an hr time , I munch a light snack- usually fruits and milk- 30 carbs.
I make sure that I eat the minimum carb requirement- 175 each and I haven't lost any weight so far.

    - Also including karela helped both juice and as a vegetable.

I am nt very comfortable with the idea of taking insulin but worst case scenario , we'll have to give in and go by the doc's advice. Try these tips and see if it works for you.

    All the very best!

    Deepa

Very little activity in the forum these days. What's happening everyone? More good news? No updates from my side, just going on. Waiting for the big day but also a little scared. Hope everyone is doing good.

Soumyaa- Yes, waiting for the big day! I complete 36 weeks on wed ( I guess its the same for u too). A tad nervous and unprepared at times but then I also want to see the baby real soon!

LO moves a lot these days. I am surprised as I expected minimum activity after week 32! But it seems that some babies are more active as they move closer to the DD.

How are things with you? Has your mom reached?

Ladies , do write in !

    Hi ladies,
Hope everyone is doing good.. I had a routine check up yday and everything seemed fine.. at first my doc scared me by saying that the amniotic fluid has reduced.. she only checked my stomach from outside and said that i need a scan immediately for confirmation.. she said if the scan also shows that the fluid has reduced, then i will have to get admitted for a c-section..
However, after the scan she confirmed everything is fine and the date is oct 16th only.. so thats it from my side... me too waiting for the big day.. :)

    Any day now ladies.. :spin
Whoever can write in, please do and update..
    Take care
