    Dear Sri,

A thought provoking message is conveyed to everyone.

Its really heart breaking to see everyone giving up on all good food only to reach that magic 100!!!! or beyond that may be!!!!!!

Even children in their teens are so diet conscious, they have given up on pastries, ice-creams to fit in to those designer wear jeans. They do not go to meet their friends but hit theh gym to get the 6 pack abs and women a 'toned' body.

Live life thoroughly and enjoy every moment of it. I totally agree with you though even I feel guilty when I miss my "brisk walks".:bangcomp: :bangcomp:

So malspie, you are my kinda girl! I often think that when it comes to physical fitness, we tend to go overboard at times! We tend to be 'inhuman' to our system in our anxiety to keep it well-toned! In a couple of months, I'll be completing 65 and I have always been very kind to my body! I have never punished it ever in the name of keeping it in shape!
If keeping in shape means ugly muscles bulging out from all corners, sorry, that's not my cup of tea!

Ha ha! A topic close to my heart!
True sir there have been days when I am fed up with all these restrictions and ask is it really worth to live the life of an ascetic!
If living like that helps us live forever, then there is some point…but fit or not we all face the same eventuality!
That said, however, I find the being physically fit improves the quality of life tremendously. More energy, more joy in day-to-day activities. I am off to get my exercise!
An enjoyable article on how you shift from one school to another!

A superb post Sri! And I can now see that there is a positive side to something else you have stopped indulging in. Writing, which is something you can do better than most of my snooty Presidency College friends. The darker side to your decision (?) is of course the fact that you deny your million plus fans the pleasure of marvelling at your penmanship. But there is a silver lining to the dark cloud as well. The historically oriented amongst your readers, have now begun to travel backwards in time. As I can see, most of the Cheeniya Ramblings that are now attrecting public attention were written around 2007. Indeed, I myself would not have arrived at this post had it not been for the Cheeniya admirers. Of course, I am one of them myself, but I have to admit that I did not embark on the voyage without foreign aid. Or, at least, it showed me the way.

And, as far as I can see, the voyage will be literally endless. The Alibaba cave you created glitters with gems of the rarest kind and one could even get lost there. By which, I mean, it is not impossible for one to end up Quasem-like and forget the secret code to come out of the Rambler's confines. A thriving society could form there and soceities can live forever, even if individuals don't. Seen from this point of view, you can rest assured that you will live for the rest of eternity, whether or not you take a morning walk, avoid greasy food, deprive yourself of alcohol and, of course, even stop mining new diamonds.

It is clear that you have defied depreciation and decay, a pleasure that is denied to ordinary mortals. I at least know that I shall keep on enjoying your creations even after I have crossed over to the wrong side of Vaitarani. Indeed, I strongly suspect that I am already there, especially when I try to read this post. Even if no one wants to read my older posts (or even my present ones), why don't IL authorities treat them with a little more kindness. At least I should be allowed to read my posts. But they are disfigured mercilessly! Perhaps you could request the right people not to do this to lesser mortals like me and others at IL. Alternatively, if they don't want to preserve our less than mediocre creations, can they not delete them altogether? I for one wouldn't mind.

    Dear Kamala
I was away on some official work at Trichy and hence this delay in responding to you.Living forever is really a dreadful thought Kamala. Remember the awful story of Yayathi who was cursed to become instantly an old man but he retrieved his youth by exchanging his old age with his son Puru. After years of life in youthful zest, Yayathi saw the futility of a life led thus and gave back his youth and Kingdom to his obliging son Puru.

Physical fitness is important to the extent that we should never become a burden to others. But there is no point in killing ourselves to remain fit!

    My dear OJ
I saw http://www.indusladies.com/forums/s...-mathematics-vs-sankari-moonlit-evenings.html of yours and I see your point. This was a technical issue that affected many threads and are being set right by the technical people. I'll refer to them your posts too. Rest assured that this was not deliberate.

Thanks a lot for your large-hearted appreciation and I accept it with humility. We all know what a great writer you are and appreciative words coming from you always lift our sagging morale. You are incomparable and I do not want to delude myself into thinking that I can ever reach your stature as an entertaining writer of excellent stuff.

Thank you, OJ. You are indeed very kind.

    Dear Sri Sir,
A very refreshing post, enjoyed it :)
For some reason, it is only when one tries to practice moderation or food control, that every bite becomes unbearably audible and loud, every smell finds its way to our nose and every sense in the brain is triggered to remember/recall/recreate the yummy, delicious food and long for it. The way I see it, the body is trying to warn us against it, why fight it :)
A lot of things are overrated these days, health is one of them.
