    hey ladies!!!!

    I am 23 weeks pregnant:thumbsup
I have a three questions for all those experianced mommys:bowdown

first: i love my morning coffee:coffee i just cant start my day without that caffine kick:bonk . I tried a lot but just couldnt go on without coffee Ok Ok...i know caffine is not good for the baby...etc.But i searched on net and found out caffine with a limit is fine So i asked my doc and she said to drink coffee very diluted like...more milk and less coffee powder but i am still wanted to ask if anyone had coffee during their pregnancy did it have any effects????????

second: ok then i love soft drinks:cheers and i learnt even these are bad duriing pregnancy:bang but again did my researchComputer Typing and found out that only drinks containing caffine like coke, pepsi, thumbsup etc are not safe but 7up and sprite are fine:cool2: and one of my friend asked her doc if we pregnant women can drink them well she said yes!!! but only after all the gas is gone so we have to let it cool down after pouring into a glass!!! is it really safe!!!! and sometimes when i fell uncomfortable in the stomach espicially during this 2nd timster i would have some kinley soda to settle down :bonk is that safe??????

third:ironically i also love spicy food:hide: can eat with a bit of heat in my food!!! i love pickles!!!!and i love spicy chaats, curries etc!!!can we eat them by adding ghee plz let me know i am dying asked my doc also she said sometimes in a week is alright but i tend to go towards them everyday how many times is safe let me know

    plz help me out ladies

    thx
    amu

    Amuu,

    Congratulatios on your Pregnancy!:thumbsup

I was continuously smiling throughout your post.Craving for specific items especially those forbidden ones and finding out an excuse to have them :-D

yes dear, we do crave for a lot of things when we are carrying especially.

    1. cofee once in a day is fine. It subsidises the hunger and reduces intake of food - So over intake of cofee might have this effects on your baby also. So reduce it to once a day. or 2/3 times a week would be much better.

too Much of cofee might reduce the baby weight. My daughter was 2900 gms when she was born. And sometimes i feel that it might be because of my cofee habits. I used to have proper cofee once a day.

But for God known reason I hate cofee post delivery! I cannot stand cofee these days :confused2:

    2. Soda type drinks are fine but not too cold. It might catch you a cold and the baby would suffer inside too.

    3. Go ahead with Pickes!:thumbsup Spicy curries are oktwice a week,But do make sure that you have a lot of fruits and fresh vegetables too. I was craving for roadside chats and icecreams when i was carrying. I was limited to 1/2 permonth.spicy foods were only 1/2 times a week and ICe cream was a big tsk

Only once I had ice cream during my pregnancy - that was the weekend before which i left to my mom's place. My husband hunted for it one late evening and came back late only after getting it!

There are a lot of other tasty foods. you can try out different varieties of them that have less spice and less oil. Make sure you drink health drinks properly during evening snacks and bed time.

    All The Best!:thumbsup

    Hi Amuu,
congrats on ur pregnancy. And regarding your questions about cravings. I used to and still have a cup of coffee in early morning. But i have my coffee with more milk and little coffee. And regarding sodas I never craved them during pregnancy but you can have cafinee free sodas. That should be ok. And regarding spicy food...even i craved a lot for it but unfortunately my stomach was not able to stand it and i used to end up having severe heartburn so i cut down spices in my curries :(
So just look out for spicy food.

Try to limit each of the 3 things

I dont drink coffee / tea normally .. but I used to like it in the weekend.. But now I have stopped totally .. better to be safe right?
But in your case try to limit (max 1 cup weak coffee a day) - or try to find DE-CAF coffee.. so you can drink without the guilt.

Spicy food - not recommended.. you wil get lots of gas & heartburn.. it doesnt make a difference if you put ghee on it. ( by the way extra ghee in your diet will just make you put on weight for no reason, you rather put on weight by eating healthy food not ghee), be careful with roadside food too.. un-clean water ect.. may give you other problem like bad stomach.
If you crave for it.. eat once a week.. NOT EVERYDAY

Soft drinks - I stopped drinking it now that I am pregnant (before I used to have only twice a month).. extra sugar & empty calories do nothing for your body & the baby. Dont drink everyday.. rather have fruit shake / lassi..

One cup of coffee a day is fine...dont worry too much about it. It is well within the limit of caffeine.. so enjoy your coffee without guilt :)

Soft drinks - I had stopped drinking them, but my doctor asked me to have a glass of 7-up half-hour after eating meals... I thought the same thing - its not good and had stopped...but now, started taking 7-up!! I feel it helps in digestion and makes me less nauseous!! (Yeah, in my 15th week and am still nauseous...maybe thats why the doc told me that?)

Spicy food - the reason to avoid it is - as everyone mentioned, you will get heartburn..if you dont suffer from heartburn, then go for it!!

    Enjoy your pregnancy!! :)

Any thing in limits is fine!!!

1 cup of coffee is fine.Once in a while areated drinks are also allowed. But I would say rather watch the intake of pickles,as they are high in salt content, which is not advisable as it may lead to water retention & BP during pregnancy.Spicy food should be ok as you are from Andhra and must be used to it.
Pregnancy is just matter of few months EAT HEALTHY and nutritious food.Once in a while indulging into such foods are fine.

    Ammu dearie,
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
    Avakai or mirchi bajji.....abba.......cheptuntene bagundi.
Btb, anything in moderation and under control, nothing to worry!!
You can have coffee, spicy food or avakai and may be you can reduce the quantity of coffee/spicy food and avakai with your favourite flavours. It is just for the sake of your baby only na!!
Once after your delivery you can go ahead and eat whatever you want.
