Ranchi: A large population of India still believes in superstitious activities in religions especially Hinduism. Yet another case of superstition has come into light. A resident of Jamshedpur offered her foot to Goddess as she thought after offering a body part, Goddess would fulfill her all desires.

A woman on Wednesday chopped off her foot to please the goddess. Rajni Mukhi, 55, chopped off her foot using a sharp knife and died due to extensive blood loss.

After the incident came to light on Thursday, the dead body was sent to Chaibasa city for postmortem.

Police officials said that Rajni took the step to please her goddess. She cut off her foot and died on the spot due to extensive blood loss.

In another similar case in the district, two women, accused of being a witch, were killed by the people. One of the women, Donga Tansai was killed by her nephew and her body was buried in a forest. Another woman was killed by her relatives accusing her of being a witch and unlucky for the family and society. (Source)

This is very sad case, there seems to be no end for superstitions and it is difficult to get people think rationally and logically. Education plays a pivotal role.
