More importantly you need to think about the fact that after all this ritual sashtra puja , Rafael is not coming home now , couple of those basic ones will be delivered in mid next year and the full fledged ones after couple of years ....

important to think then why this spectacle and what was the point .... this was meant for Bhaktigan to get inspired to vote in elections .... great PR ...

And also it helps the one you who to spin religious takes by taking on those who are mocking the ritual .....Soon everyone will forget that no Rafael is delivered now and will focus on how dare any one criticize nimboo mirchi ... that is the maturity of our bhakthgan ...

Focus on the actual issue not trappings .....

You heard wrong.. Rain is also like Karnataka, wouldn't give water to TN. Which was rightly not telecast.. Generalization for popular consumption is quite popular, I guess.. :)

The lemons were specifically picked up from a garden in Ayodhaya, carried in a vehicle washed by Suryu water, to Gomukh in Uttarakhand for pure water bath, blessed by the chief pujari of Badrinath and then airlifted to France in a special aircraft which in turn was cleaned thoroughly at Har ki Paudi at Haridwar.
The Defence minister had a thorough bath with Ganga Jal before doing the Abhisekam at his luxury suite at the Hotel.
And don't ask me how do I know it. I was watching from my abode.
    Hari.

You missed two vital purifying ingredients. Gobar anf gomutra. I am sure the plane must have been washed with gobar mixed in gomutra to purify it before other rituals commenced.

    :hello:Hi!
    2. It is almost universal I believe, a concept a la the black hole which can swallow even light waves or energy into it.
    3. Anything in small, yet substantial black should attract leaving aside all other attraction. It is why Muslim women go outdoors in burka.
    4. Black woollen thread tied across to alum stone and hung at a spot where eyes stare goes, believed to ward off bad effect of dangerous rays or radiation from such wonderful eyes.
    • :relaxed:Stition or superstition, when it won’t cost anything or much, follow tradition to ward off the “guilt of having not observed and lost feeling”.
    • Elsewhere in IL, READER had enough of discussion on superstition, black magic, witchcrafts & evil eyes cast by near and dear resulting in deprivation of privileges for further comments.
    Amen.

My mother used to say that the person who is primarily proud of any possession, beautiful child or a rank holder as the son/daughter is the closest relation and their pride is cast on the object of possession and it is actually called a dhrishti, a look of pride, though not of jealousy. In order to mar the beauty, they place some black dots or such things.
Casting Dhrishti is another way of not making you proud of your achievement got as nature's gift or thro personal efforts.

Anusha2917, a very interesting hypothesis. But it is hardly rational. I don't believe admiration can cause any harm to the chubby-cheeked kid. "I don't think the "evil eye" ever exists and if it did I feel the black dot will be counterproductive. Like a little bit of salt in a dessert enhances its flavor, the black dot will bring out the beauty of the child or any other object of admiration by the sheer contrast with it.
