totally agree...but thats how it is. In arranged/love, if someone portrays a different picture than what they are, it will create a ton of issues. And yes - it is the woman who suffers. If theres a kid involved, you cannot even divorce that easily (since u need to think abt the kid. )

its a very tough situation for the woman and very painful one....and theres a feeling of helplessness and being taken unfair advantage of (just because they know you wont go anywhere)

i dont know how to change such mentality

If your family has given any cash...isnt that amounting to Dowry???? In this age do you think its a good idea to encourage this.....?
One tip that all future brides can take it is if parents give cash jewellary etc treat this as 'Streedhan' and keep it in your custody...U can accept the cash as an FD in your account..

Sorry if it sounds like a rant....It IS..!! I am totally against Dowry and it pains to see educated women in this age abiding by it called it as 'Reet..riwajjj"
