    Hello friends,

Came across a new superstition today.

Carrying ghee & milk ( only if nothing has been added to the milk, going by this dictum it's perfectly ok to carry chocolate milk) during journeys bring bad luck.

Can anyone pls enlighten me on this esp regarding ghee & travelling.

    Love
    -Riya

    :welcome back Riya Sister,

My mom has always carried Ghee/oil to light lamps in temples even far off (outstation) journey and I have also found that comfortable to carry our own diya/ghee/oil to light lamps instead of running around to purchase in the shops for so many years now, after lighting lamps in temple it is always GOOD LUCK.

Shifting houses also I have carried and there are No issues as of now. Best wishes,

May Baba guide us always, Sairam

    dear op,
please don't give importance to such things
me too carried such things when ever i was about to shift from one state to another state on transfer.
if small children are there it is necessary to carry milk for them.
now also i carry coffee, butter milk and all for journey.
    so no worries.

I believe this superstition would have stemmed from risk of spillage. spoiling ones dresses. the suitcases, the zip lock covers, flasks and bottles, the plastic protection happened only in the 20th century in india. trying to remove the ghee stain offclothes was definitely a struggle without proper soap and stuff. and milk tends to smell stinky, if spilled. yes we had the kooja or the jug that was used in travels.

most of the superstition happened based on the time, situations and other issues.

I always prefer bringing ghee from mu Mom's place because of its good quality. I do not prefer the customary sweets and savouries and rather bring something that is more of use.
