Re: A vent about my mom & dad

I’m sorry to hear of the frustration you’re feeling – my heart goes out to you as I read your story. Your mom fully deserves the praise for her hard work. It takes courage, patience, energy and time to get along with others who see things differently. At the same time, it can be painful to watch your parents’ interaction and feel helpless by the situation. My suggestion to you is that you have a discussion about this issue with someone, perhaps a trusted friend. During my time with Focus on the Family, I’ve heard of many who were facing similar challenges and there is a book that might be a good read for your mom, “Love must be tough” by Dr. James Dobson and “Boundaries” by Dr. Henry Cloud. I know there is hope for them and they might be able to stop this cycle. If you’re interested, your mom or you can get advice from one of Focus’ counselors (over the phone for free). My prayers are with you!
