I too have the same feeling about myself. You do this because of your health issues. But I am healthy enough to do everything still I am not doing anything. The reason behind that is different. First is my kids are too small. Most of my time goes to pamper them then handling their dramas then from their bath to susupotty everything I have to clear. After that I also need some me time. So with the time left I can only do the regular work like cooking washing clothes etc.
Second reason is my house is tooooo big that if I will go to clean it everyday then I will die with cleaning only. No other work can be done. So I just leave it as it is. And do little cleaning whenever I feel to.

Ma'am, you have impressed whomever you had to in your youth. Why are you still entertaining those feelings? I know most women have this ingrained in us to be the best in whatever we do. It is okay when youth is on our side, but not now. I may be few years younger to you but I can see a huge difference in the energy and enthusiasm levels between then and now. We women do not retire and do all the mandatory work every single day. I think this itself is an achievement.

When you wrote, "I was very fond of drawing, making jewelleryetc. during childhood. But could not continue after marriage. Now I am enjoying my hobbies andfeel very happy when I get the appreciation." , you motivated me. Our brains are still working creatively and that itself is a big bonus! At least for now, let's forget our shortcomings in housekeeping, enjoy and fulfil our creative needs which were hitherto brushed under the carpet.

I get motivated by seniors like jeeves, you and others; you set new creative benchmarks for me.

True when young I had lot of energy andas Iam growing old and because of my hip bone fracture 26 years back I am not able to work like before.Ya making jewellery keeps me busy and feel happy that I am doing something. Glad to know you get motivated by me and others

you have done all you could do for others all your life. Now it is time to sit back, take things a bit easy and indulge yourself doing things you like to do. Keeping the house spic and span is certainly a nice thing. There was a time I used to do that. Now I am unable to do it and as you know I am dependent on help. So my house is in auto run mode which means the situation is far from ideal. However, there are some lessons I learned from my mom's life.
She was one perfectionist and as long as she was in her home looking after herself, everything was just so. When circumstances forced us to keep her in the home, she was not even aware of anything around her. It used to break my heart to see that she had to live in conditions far less than perfect and wondering what she was aware of and how she felt about it, if she was. Why she had to undergo that and why I had to watch her suffering, I don't know. I have seen this happening to others too. So I have learned that we need to compromise in our ways later on in life. So no point in being too finicky ever. As for others being satisfied with what we offer them, of course it feels good if we are able to make them happy, but we can only do our best. Am sure they understand and if they do not, too bad. It's their problem, not our's.

No one is a paragon of perfection.If some one is very perfect, there would be another perfect person to find fault.On many occasions with an idea of cleaning we keep important things somewhere and we don't get when we need.My husband is not for arranging things.There is a big table and he keeps all his things there.For about 10 years I was arranging.Then I left.I don't search for his things.
As all the things are on that particular table only, he would take out.
My daughter and son-in-law and kids are trying to be perfect.just the opposite in my son's place.
In my eldest sister's place everything is in a mess.somebody would be searching for something round the clock.
I had a friend much junior to me, a post graduate in Home science.She used to keep her house very clean-sparkling I should say.The difficulty was she started expecting the same perfection from her husband and children.
The children were amenable to discipline.yet they were kids.When they came home from school they would throw the shoes and socks in the shoe rack, keep the bags in the almirah and start asking for something to eat as they feel angry.
This lady would go to the shoe rack arrange the shoes in a particular order,keep the socks in the wash basket,remove all the books and notebooks from the bag, arrange them nicely in the respective shelf.She would ask the child to get up, drag the dining chair in a specific angle verifying it with her geometrical lens.
Meanwhile the four year old kid would be tired of hunger and start sleeping. Now continued the abuses for sleeping in evening hrs.Had she spent 10 mts in preparing dosas and served the hot dosas to the children, they would have happily enjoyed the food, relieved of hunger and gone to play.This was a daily routine.
She was taken for psychological counselling but she was so adamant that she refused to change.In her angle everybody else was at fault.Now she is nearing 60,remains uncared for by her husband and children.Unable to tolerate her obsession, the children started totally ignoring her.She became very weak and unhealthy spending most of her days in the neuro ward.She was purposely kept in the hospital during the wedding of her two sons.She has been branded psychic'
All her talents got wasted and hidden under the big wave of 'obsession ' for cleanliness!
What a pity!
Every one needs a space,whether they want to be perfect, imperfect or mediocre.If the balance is not maintained,just see the fate.
