See for us I was okay with him having a beer or two once a week or twice a week when we went out for dinner. But A. He started taking advantage of it. B. He would make up for not drinking much by getting drunk or close to drunk when he got with a friend. And that's what ruined the idea of drinking. I am primarily American raised so I understood drinking was part of the culture. But hell even my white colleagues and all said gone are the days of getting wasted now. After certain again it's different priorities. n my husband's priorities would change for a day or two and then go back which is why I highly recommend to all singles if you are in a relationship please figure out appropriate measures of drinking and such habits.

My husband would get together with friends have a drink or two nowadays. But he has told me about his college days were he was drunk and wasted. But he doesnt do that anymore. Also, I am not against him having a few drinks when friends come over or when we visit friends. Also at work place, where there are drinks, he would do one beer or something. Even though I do not drink, I like to make cocktails/or other hard drinks and snacks for them too. But they would never have had a drunk and irresponsible party. we do these with a few friends we are really comfortable with.

See to me that seems completely reasonable and acceptable. I would go as far as saying I would enjoy making it for someone else even if I didn't take part in it because it was done in moderation and gracious manner.

Social drinking is very common in my part of the world. It does not always mean H brings friends to home for drinks. But they gather at someone's place where the family willingly hosts. Or they drink at a hotel or pub or any public place for that matter.
Many times, they gather at office or anywhere related to office after office hours, specially on Fridays to unwind their stressful week.
Same goes at my work place too.

Besides, there are family gatherings like birthdays or special days where close buddies in the family gather for drinks at night.

And moreover, drinks are taken at weddings and parties with friends, family or neighbors depending on the situation.

These occasions happen either once a week, once a month or a couple of times in a year. Depending on how often you wanna drink or how much your body supports for that or how much money you can spend on such social drinking define your frequency of social drinking.

It is not a taboo in today's world.
