Hi all, I am looking for simple and very basic slokas to teach toddlers. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
There is a collection of Sanskrit shlokas and their English translations in a book called "Prarthana" (I included the link on amazon). I found it was just the right collection of the prayers and shlokas that we grew up on (and forgot over the years!) It also makes a great gift for Indian families with young kids.
Start with Namas Chanting e.g. Om Nama Shivaya, Om Namo Narayanaya, Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya Then slowly start small slokas (it can be in your mother toungue or in sanskrit) e.g. On Lord Ganesha "Vagra Thunda Mahakaaya Surya koti samaprabha, Nirvignam Gurumedeva Sarva Karyeshu sarvatha" For the toddlers to make it more interesting, just make them offer a flower after chanting each nama or sloka. You can offer fruits, nuts or dry fruits for neivedyam and after prayer, give the prasadh to children. You can make them tell the stories they know, the ramayana or mahabharatha or story of the devotees.
