Hi, sorry you have broken statue in your puja room. Normally we don't keep it. Because you may get hurt when you clean the puja place. So many of our customs are based on practical issues. Since we don't listen to that, elders made it is not good to do this and that.
whenever you od puja, you are going to think about the broken statue. I had one Ganesha like that. After few month, I said bye to him. This is my personal opinion, not based on religious stuff.

    Good day.

Any Idol which has been placed in Puja Room has the significance of creating some cosmic energy when it is worshipped with proper chanting of Mantras.

When the idol is broken, the energy released will disturb the vibrations of mantra, and cannot release its full energy. Hence it was a practise and custom, to remove the idol and dispose it according to the traditional customs, and replace with same.

    Thanks and Regards
