I make usually Sambhar and Rasam without dal and tamarind Sambhar Boil vegetables of your choice in water adding salt and haldi. Fry one or two tomatoes a little then grind with coconut and sambhar powder. The add to the boiled vegetables When ready take oil add Rai,kadipatha, Hing powder when ready add to the sambhar Rasam Boil two or three tomatoes cut fine. Add salt ,haldi and Hing powder and sambhar powder and pepper jeera powder. After it is cooked add water .when ready give thadka with Rai, kadipatha, Hing powder and add to rasam
Mami, Can you advise which veggies you add as it will be helpful to retain the taste of sambhar. Also do you mean to fry the tomatoes and grind with cocount.

I use different veg as is available. Bhendi and brinjal Pumpkin white and red, in this also u can add bhendi, murungai Kai .Ya u should fry the tomatoes a little then it will be tasty.
Thanks Geeta. I got inspiration to post the recipies after seeing yours. Actually I learnt cooking from my hsband after marriage. Before marriage I used to like to enjoy life and never bothered to learn cooking.i was married to a big family where each and everyone was expert in cooking. I used to feel odd in front of them While working my husband used to help me and in office also everyone knew and they used to tease me asking who cooked. After retirement I learnt more through Google and later through this forum and used my own ideas. Thanks for your feedback
